Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Update on the development of our Community

As with any new community, we have folks moving in and getting settled, while others are finishing the build-out. Others are painting walls and hanging pictures. Don't know if you have noticed, but everyday, our community changes- that's the way it's supposed to be too.

Our emphasis is on "quality, not quantity" meaning we want an active community, not just folks hanging their shingle and then not getting to know their neighbors. And yet, our growth rate is constant and is branching out to include all levels of knife collecting experience and types of knives collected. Thanks for spreading the word.

There are community plans in the works too. Last week, two knife companies joined or started their own Groups. Most recently Case started a their Group. The plan is to have each knife company/manufacturer have a Group here. Any help you can provide to get their attention and have them contact me about starting a Group, please do. As with anything new, it will take time go get them, so do be patient.

Also, as you know, iKC is different. It is not a forum- yet provides discussion. It isn't YouTube, or any other social network- because it is exclusive to knife collectors, nor is it a "static" website.

As you invite new members, don't be surprised when they come check it out and decide it's not for them. iKC is about connecting with collectors.

We've had good feedback about the site and while iKC is new- and its members will continue to build it out- I'm hearing of folks re-connecting with old friends, while making new ones. That is what iKC is all about!

Thanks for your support and participation.
Scott

..and? Well?

You just gonna keep it to yourself, or what? I mean I'm glad you got an idea and all, but really....

You gotta do this- play off the J J's Diner concept in a periodic blog post from your My Page. I'd start with the map your created, then introduce the characters of the community- could be a spoof.

Scott,
This fellow wandered into the diner and said he wanted to meet the mayor.
So, Scott this is Luke, Luke this is Scott.
Luke said that he would pop in from time to time to give out pearls of wisdom, (I told him to keep it clean).

I think the we all take a look. Unless you stay on-line 24-7, you miss what is posted in the "Latest Activity". The ability to see anything that has been posted since your last visit would be cool. Guess we'll have to be content, walking around town, with a coffee cup, and checking into things here and there. BTW, The Road-Kill was a teaser.

To my knowledge, only through email notifications- if they are following that Discussion, like this one between you and me. But you know the very most recent activities show up and catch folks eye. I'm "peaked" into wall comments, discussion threads and even picture comments after seeing them on the right side column.

That's the only drawback to this type of forum. Folks will generally talk between themselves or within the "Clubs". Does Ning have a feature that lets members view posts, that are "new", since last logging on? One of the woodcarving groups have that and it's a big help.
