The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
You may remember my case full of Barlows and you may remember that the individual holders of that case were really too small for standard size Barlows and would not even partially hold the old Grand-Daddy Barlows.
So I did nove the Barlows into a new case and I will post those soon.. And I added a few G.D. (no I am not cussing) Barlows as well.
That gave me an empty case to fill up. So the pics below are a mixture of things.
The first photo is an entire row of Coca-Cola Collectible knives.
The 2nd photo are those same knives in the top half of the original photo while the last photo is the bottom half of the first photo.
The Contest:
This contest is covered by the various Coca-Cola knives in 3 photos below.
First photo contains all of the knives
Second photo contains the top portion of these knives and provides a close up.
Third photo contains the bottom portion however only the last four knives in this photo count. The first group of knives are also in the second photo.
I don't want to confuse you but I was unable to clearly get a top half and a bottom half so there is overlap.
That is why I am saying be clear in what your say your selection is and ask you questions before you post your selection.
The contest question:
Of the Coca-Cola knives on the left side of the photo below, which knife has the most value?
Easy, simple question right?
All you have to do is name the knife that is worth the most.
Yes, I know maybe there is someone out there that would pay me $5,000 for the one that is worth five bucks. That is not the question.
This is straight up, which knife would you say is worth the most?
Yes, I know the answer and the knive that has real value here is worth significantly more than any of the other knives.
Contest Rules:
One official guess per person. If you want to submit more guesses after I say "No, sorry", feel free but I will not tell you if you are right until the contest is over.
How to answer: Be clear what knife you are selecting and which phto you are using. I am showing the top and bottom half photos to give you a clearer picture of the knives.
So if you are picking knife 5 from the top make sure I know what photo, so give your answer as 3rd photo, knife 5 from the top or the bottom or whatever you want to point me to.
Make sense?
Questions? Ask your question BEFORE you pick a knife. You don't get a do-over.
Contest deadline:
Tuesday, 26th at 5:00 Pacific Time (8PM ET)
Prize:
The regular Barlow knife that Robert Burris won but decided not to claim. Instead Robert donated that knife as the prize for this contest. Thanks Robert!!
Good luck to everyone at iKC. Maybe we will get some folks in this contest that weren't interested in the last one, huh?

Sorry John, but no. That is a nice old solingen knife (white with red script). The other two look like that one but are quite different.
The winning knife for that contest (Contest #3) was the last knife in the row, a silver knife with script engraving. The blades were made in Germany and the rest in the US and the knife was put together in Atlanta. I guess they had an argument because one tang reads Germany and the reverse reads Atlanta.
It's from pre WWI era.
I have a new contest going John, I hope you take time to join in on that one HERE.
First photo, Sixth knife from left to right. Center knife? Thanks for the help finding the contest Sue and Jan!
Congrats Peter and thanks Lee for the contest. I would have lost if I picked, good job by Peter. These are alot of fun.
Hey Peter, I didn't donate the knife, Lee did. We need to thank him.
I missed your guess while I was busy answering the question
However, that's a good guess Peter. And I am glad you pointed out to me that you had made a guess.
In fact, we have OURSELVES A WINNER!!
I will post a close-up of that silver knife.
The handles are inscribed with Compliments of the Coca-Cola Co. with everything except "Compliments" in script. It is a 2 blade knife and both tangs read Coca-/Cola Co./Atlanta on opposing sides. The reverse side of the primary tang also is imprinted with Germany, as is the opposing side of the tang on the small blade.
Apparently Coke had the blades made in Solingen and someone imprinted the blades with Germany. Coke received the blades and used American components for the rest of the nife including the beautiful inscription on the handles.
Coke then inscribed their company name and HQ city on the reverse of the tangs they got from Germany. I could be wrong but something tells me they were not happy to see the blades carrying "Germany" on the tang.
The fact that WWI started shortly after that is probably a coincidence!
Send me your address privately Peter and I will get your reqrd of to you as soon as I can.
Good job!
hey lee. yeah i was already surprised to not see someone ask for a tang list as this would for sure produce an instant winner. thats why i didnt ask in a private message as i thought that would have been unfair to the rest of IKC!
BUT... i also did take my guess... was i wrong... you didnt say. unless i missed it. if you look at my previous post i guessed the very last knife all the way to the right in the bottom picture.
thanx lee and robert for donating the knife!
Thank you Robert. In photo #3 the last four knives ARE in the contest. Those are the red, black and other two. These are also the last four knives in photo #1. Everything else in photo #3 is better shown in photo #2.
I want to find time to take some better photos for everyone but like I answered to Peter I think if I do that I will have to allow the folks who already picked to get one more pick right?
Or maybe if I remove the knives that have already been selected I can take a pic of those that are still in the contest (??) That might work.
Lee, in the third picture, starting from right side, the first three don't count? I s that what you are saying?
Hi Peter. Good suggestion and I will put the list together for everyone. But if I post it now it means some people can guess with more information than others, the info on the tang.
So I have to decide when to post the tangs and how to handle prior guesses if I post if before the contest is over.
