Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

You can only imagine how M-Tech is treated in some knife forums.  I've read so many horror stories about the company that I've avoided buying anyone from them over the years.

But the company seems to be around and doing fine.  I've been looking for a decent fixed blade  karambit but didn't want to pay an arm and leg for one. (For the most part they  seems to sell for  either $10 or $100)  I suppose the one exception is the Colt Karambit for $20 which is also on my list.

I broke down and put out $13 on an MTech fixed blade  Karambit with a 440A Stainless blade. Am I going to be disappointed?

What has been your experience with M-Tech knives?

Well I did buy one M-Tech quite by accident at an yard sale.(It was mixed in a box) Now this was a two blade folder I believe and it had never been used that I could tell. I was quite surprised at how sharp and smooth the finish was. I'll see if I can get a picture, but have to say I was actually pretty happy with it.

Steve I actually bought my MTECH on purpose giving the brand a try.. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!... at least for me they were one of the worst knives . I remember the knife  just always coming apart, the blade pin needed to be tightened all the time.

I would go with CRKT,GERBER and KERSHAW ..and you can find knives from, well,  at least 2 of them I know for $10- 15 shipped!

Tobias I would love to hear what you have to say though. I'm sure in the end you will agree that a $15 KERSHAW will do you lots more justice when dealing with overseas tac knives like MTECH!!...   MTECHs also just have that all around shaky feeling..like the entire knife tends to shake in your hand.same knife also finally broke after about 30 throws into a tree!... then took home and had real fun..!!

LOVE MY destroyed pile of knives..not junkers or EDCs but just a bucket of pieces I have stashed! ..its in my shed...every time I destroy another knife that is garbage, it goes in the can.

ps watch out Tobias those Mtechs really are bad..had a friend named Chris break a spring on one, blade flipped al the way around and serrations went right into his hand.. this was NIB!

Well the one I have is not a Tactical knife. In fact kind of traditional except for the blades. I guess I would call it a Jumbo Trapper?

Well fortunately mine is a fixed blade (no moving parts).  As it is cord wrapped, I'll be able to say a thing or two about the quality of the paracord, the build of the sheath. The steel is supposedly 440A.  I can compare it to others.  We'll see.  Below is a stock photo.  It looks nice enough

I sure like the look of that, I guess we will see if it works as a knife!

I think I'll set some boxes up in the cutlery cavern and see how it works as a karambit fighting knife  and as a simple box cutter.  Maybe even see what it'll do against some bars of soap in a slashing attack.  I don't think my wife will let me attack a thawed chicken with it but I might try it against a cantaloupe

Hope the M-Tech treats you well, Tobias.

Well it look fierce so perhaps it will back that up against a deranged cantaloupe.

Well it came yesterday and it tore up a Kennsaw Knife catalog like nobody's business and then did some nasty hacks into some thick cardboard.  Next I took a couply back hand swipes (Index finger through the hole) at some heave carpeting I have hung up for cat-scratching post and it sliced through it.  Then it sliced the heck out of some very dense foam board.

I know I really wouldn't want that blade making contact with my belly or face!   I'll have  to try it later against a melon but for now, I can say I'd trust it right out of the box for self-defense or for cutting carpet.  There's a reason they call these things "tiger claws!"

On the negative side, I think the placement of the snap on the sheath will cause it get hung up so I'll be making a new sheath.  Also the cord wrapping method causes to cord to get a little loose.  I'll need to play with it that get it snugged down.   All in all, not bad for under $15.  I might look into that Colt CT513 with the 4 inch blade and Kydex sheath in the near future.

I have a few, but have not really used them.I have a set of 10 with wood handles that look good and seem to work smoothly.
