One of my first purchases when I decided to really start collecting. No clue as to what I was doing or what to look for, or how shipping could really get out of hand. Sooo...I bought a couple swords from a book series that I really liked, and wow...the price was sure right! About $30! Even came with leather scabbards! Well, I snatched them up and waited impatiently for them to arrive. Long story short, had to drive an hour each way to go get them from FedEx, after I paid shipping on the purchase, FedEx hit me up for another $79 for assorted fees, then taxed me on them! Ended up paying way too much for something I may use as a shoehorn. My Wall of Shame entry is....2 "scimitars"...

And another that came in a "lot" of knives I tried to grab. There was a balisong in the mix, the only thing I wanted, but Canada Customs thought differently. Lost the one I wanted, gained a nice letter from Canada Customs and Excise saying "Nice try, and thank you for the knife", and got this...thing...for my troubles.

What's worse? I still have these as a reminder to look before you buy! LOL

I have made a few bad purchases in the passed and I chalk those up to experience. I hate to write something about a knife brand, maker or dealer that may hurt their business. I may complain to them in person but complaining online may their lively hood. I must consider, they may have young children depending on them. So I try not loose my temper and hurt the guilty party but go through channels to try and recover.

  Most real quality knife dealers are out to treat you right so they can get your business in the future. Find a few that treat you right and stick with them, is a good policy.

OK, John,  I'll play along.

Knowing my feelings of Wharncliffe whittlers, I saw this one at an online knife store.

Jim Bowie (German Eye Brand).

The profile looks good and I loved the butter yellow scales.

But that's where the love stopped.

The tang of the master blade.

Needless to say there was an issue with blade wobble.

BUT...

Here are the secondaries.

Definitely no better.

If that wasn't bad enough, the secondaries were almost as thin as a few sheets of paper and as rigid as an old fashioned steel can.

Now when you get a lemon like this, you'd think a reputable company would stand behind their product.  NOT.

Not only would I have to pay to ship it back, but also the shipping back to me.  PLUS they were going to charge me a 20% re-stocking fee.

Well I promptly told them what I thought of them and their company and told them to,  well, you can guess...

This knife has sat on the monitor stand of my PC for 4 1/2 years as a reminder to, if at all possible, always hold a knife before I buy.

Here's one I picked up in a pawn shop along with a few others- Thought it looked kind of cool and didn't pay much for it- However, after closer examination and a cut up finger I discovered the backspring  was so weak on the straight razor blade it had a nasty habit of partially opening in my pocket -OUCH !!

Seriously!  I thought this was supposed to be a Wall of Shame!  You want shame???  You want SHAME!  YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE SHAME!

This is SHAME!

I'm not even sure what the steel is in the blade?  What I do know is I made a knife out of an old coffee can lid that has better steel in the blade! I love my Sasquatch Slasher!
