The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I received my Case Sodbuster Jr. today. I had previously received one but sent it back because the tang was discolored. If it were going to be a user I would have kept it. But I want it for my collection and it will not be used. Anyway today I received its replacement from SMKW. When I opened it I was again disappointed. This one has a defect on the tang. The two pictures show the defect.
Am I being unreasonable if I send it back for a refund? I would then go to the local Case dealer so I could look at one before buying it.

I don't blame you one bit. I don't like defects on new knives.
Steve, we have a Case Master Dealer here in Athens. I will go there so I can examine before buying.
Hi Charles. Sorry you had two rounds of not being pleased with your knife. Too bad they are not all looked at before they are shipped. We would not have shipped it looking like that. It is your money and your investment. I agree, send it back. I hope all is well for you otherwise.
I concur. I've had great experiences with SMKW and hav enever had issues returning products for a refund. The knife is defective. It maybe a minor flaw but it is a flaw. You should send it back and they should apologize and give you a refund.
another problem is it shouldn't have left Case like that either. The folks in the store shouldn't have to open the box and look for every defect. It shouldn't be form Case like that in the first place.
I did send the knife back to SMKW but instead of a refund, I asked them to replace it with this Buck fish knife. They were both the same price.

Will do Tobias. I hope to get it by the end of this week.
It is on the cover of the April SMKW catalog. When I saw it, it just reached out and grabbed me! LOL
