Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hay Folks,

It has been a while since my last post, sorry for the absence.

Anyway, I have a cleaning job to do for a customer and when the piece is not familiar to me I like to do some research to discover the history.

The only markings on the knife is the owners name who unfortunately has passed on and my customer wants it restored for their family. They do not know where the knife was purchased.

The only marking is on the sheath, stamped W.F.SMITH MFR LYNN

I am not finding much online and was wondering if anyone might know more about it.

W.F. (SMITTY) SMITH

New Mexico knifemaker Willard Smith has been making knives for many years.  He forges all of his steel. He sells his knives at gun shows, black powder shoots and repeat customers.  W.F. Smith lives near Albuquerque, New Mexico and his hand-made knives are used and collected for both period shows and sporting carry. His Knives are also used in Hollywood films. According to the map there is a Lynn NM

Do not know if it is the same maker

Jan,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Very helpful !

I wonder why he doesn't put his makers mark on them.

if this is the same maker it may be a very early model.  Some dont mark until they are sure LOL
