Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Howdy Guys,

Well, the furor over Miss Ruth wanting to be my friend seems to have died down.  Gn'na miss her (just a little) and the resultant chat (a little more).

But now I need your input. You may know I make drawer and display cases for collectors of every stripe.  Where do you all keep you collections?

Going in your house would be like going into a knife store Lee! LOL! Cool!

There is just so much valuable info and great pics of ways to display your knives. Awesome contribution!

Bill, such great information. My wife is the fabricaholic in the family. I'm gonna give her this info and have her design the perfect material to bed my collection on. At least by having them all laid out it will be easier to keep them checked for any problems that may arise.

Hi Guys,  Does me' heart good to see such beautiful woodwork surrounding your beautiful knives,.  I have noticed some of you mentioning sticking your collection in fabric.  And I HAVE to say something.  Steel is one thing -but if you have solver or silver plating on your stuff, you need to read my (free) article on Fabric for Collectors.  Iz'at...

...and for that matter, you will also find an article on displaying knives at...

Keep up the good work.

It seems these days even some of the better knife comanies are putting their knives in a plastic sleeve inside the box. Even if you plant to be one of those people ho keep your knife "Mint in the Box" do yourself a favor.  Take your knife out of the plastic sleeve and wrap in in archival or knife paper. If you can find those uses an un-lbeached butcher paper.

Plastic bags  may break down  over time and gas-out just like the old celluloid handles did. (Of cource different makers may also use different types of plastic sleeves, however I seriously doubt they planned on the knife being in plastic for years.  Also clam packages will break down over time when exposed to light,  Get your knives out of them!

Quite honestly still looking, way to much in boxes and one rather pathetic shelf I made .....yeah pics to follow

See my video, I keep my knives in a Craftsman 5 drawer tool chest, folders in the top drawer, knife sharpening and cleaning supplies in the second drawer, boxes in the third, misc stuff in the 4th and fixed blades in the 5th. Need to add some liners to the drawers this week.
