From what I have read on this knife it is no longer being made.

Amazon.com has them for $126.46

The reviews have been very favourable on the model especially for weight and balance but I don't know if I'd carry it for an EDC. Depends a lot on what you'll be using your EDC for and where.  Depending on where you live with that false edge, it may be considered illegal--if only a swage then it might get confiscated by an uninformed officer?  There just might be better choices.

The Matt knife no longer being made?  They just hit the market...  Sounds like there were some problems with the sheath.  At that price, go TOPS or ESEE -- both of which can have disappointing sheaths as well, but they seem to have more experience with harder use knives (unless this is one of those knives TOPS actually made for Buck).  

The TOPS Dave Canterbury model (can't recall the name of it) seemed very similar in design, but may not be easy to find (believe it's no longer in production).

My guess is that the SEAL after whom the knife was made is a big draw, seems to be the case with this particular knife.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, & your knife needs to be to your tastes & preferences, but you could probably pick up something similar in a TOPS or ESEE for a little less somewhere online & donate the amount you saved to something like the Wounded Warrior Project, & pay just as good a tribute.  http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/

While being a very different knife, I picked up the TOPS Silent Hero to support big animal conservation efforts in Africa, so I get wanting your knife to support a cause.  Good luck with your decision either way!

You all know that I am a huge Buck fan girl, but let's look at the Matt-would-go.  For $125 you get a 4" blade made with 5160 steel.  Now, 5160 isn't bad, but you can get an Ontario Bushcraft 5" 5160 steel knife for $85.00.  And in the genre of 4" - 6" bladed bushcraft knives with maybe 1095 steel, you can get some true gems for less than $100.00.

I'm not saying the Matt-would-go isn't worth it if that is what you really want, but I think you can get something just as good or better for less money.  On the other hand, a portion of the money for every Matt-would-go goes to support the Navy Seals, so that might help persuade you in that direction too.

Also, one of my favorite "bushcraft knives" that gets a lot of use and is made with "5160" spring steel is a 6" kukri from Nepal.  Don't laugh, it is a heck of a nice bushcraft knife.  True, it needed some serious sharpening when I got it and I modified the handle a bit to better suit my hands, and modified the typical kukri sheath it came with, but for about $50 - $60 I think it has become my favorite bushcraft tool.

I'm not trying to talk you out of the Matt-would-go, I just think that Buck makes these things for collectors rather than as users and prices them as such.  If the Matt-would-go were selling for around $75 - $85 I would be all over it in a heartbeat.
