Something’s gotta give. Just added yet another seahorse to the collection … bringing the total to 52. If that weren’t bad enough, if I add up all of my 3 blade whittlers … the number jumps to 65! Yikes! Anyway, this one definitely has a lot of wow factor. Started out in life as a 2008 stag model with Devin Thomas raindrop pattern Damascus blades. Josh Kidd (Wild Horse Customs) did his magic with blue cross-cut mammoth ivory covers and embellished bolsters, liners and springs. Probably ranks pretty close to the top of my favorites list. If you look closely, however, one caught my immediately. I have never seen a seahorse with such a wide and clean main blade swedge like this one has. I have checked all of my other ponies and can’t find another (even another Damascus) that has a similar swedge. And … to add to my amazement, this is one of the very few that left the factory with nearly perfect edges. Very sharp with absolutely no burrs. I didn’t even bother to resharpen it. I checked with Josh and he did nothing to the blades, except add his mark.  So, whoever was working at Case in 2008 …. kudos!!  While this one drained the ole bank account …. it sure makes me happy!!

That one is surely a beauty! You know you got me interested in the Case Seahorse Whittlers as I was always a fan of the GEC 38s, which are impossible to find now, but the Case knives have a great variety.

I hope all is well with you up in your neck of the woods.

Some beautiful mammoth on that pony!  The worked bolsters and subtle detail on the back springs really compliment it too.  And then theres the damascus blades........  A pony that any rancher would be proud to have in their stable.

Whoa Nellie ... another Josh Kidd (Wild Horse Custom) customized seahorse.  I thought I loved the blue crosscut on the last one I got (well, I still do!) ... but the blue/tan/green mammoth bark covers on this 2021 are phenomenal.

Another great Seahorse by Josh. Nice colors. Should be a fine companion to the blue crosscut.

Thanks Tim .... certainly is!

Very nice!

May 15, Dennis posts a pic of the best looking Seahorse yet.

What's up with that?

Best looking one yet, buddy.

Well J.J., it's like me and a bag of chips.  Okay, I will have just one more.  Well, maybe just one more and that's it.  Well, one more .... and I mean it.  Before you know it, the whole darn bag is gone.  Best intentions to stop .... but you just can't force yourself to do it!

2022 model customized by Wildhorse Customs with abalone and lapis lazuli covers, along with the usual embellishments to the bolsters, blade spines and back springs. I am wondering whether the purported spiritual qualities of the lapis will make me a better person ….. nah!!

2020 model customized by Mel Whitten with purple dyed mammoth tooth covers. There is one problem, however. I have NO idea who Mel Whitten is! He does great work, just wish I knew something about him. If you know about him, would love to get some info.
