Yes, the stag handled one is an RH 73, but it was subject to sharpening abuse.

The stag handled one.  An RH73?  If I am recalling correctly, that one should have an etching as well.  Hard to find one of these in good enough condition that the etching survived though.

Whoops.  I got the 72 and the 74 mixed up in my first post.  Sorry about that!

On yours, I believe there should be a standing buck, and a doe and fawn laying down.  (never mind that fawns and antlers don't happen in the same season).  They used the same etching pattern on a few different pattern knives and it could be on either side of the blade.  The etching was not real strong, so it wore off fairly easily.

Good looking knives though!

There is etching on the blade of the darker knife.  There is a deer and a hunting scene, but it is worn and a bit faint. It appears that one deer is lying down and one standing.  I did put the knife in a newer sheath (did not get one with it).  Both knives have been used and sharpened.

The 'P' option was introduced after DuPont bought a stake in the Remington Cutlery business,  From 1933 to 1939.

The "P" stands for Pyremite by the way...

Do you see etching on the blade of the 72P?  Should be a deer scene.  There were actually two versions of those.  One with the deer standing, and one with the doe and fawn laying down.

Gotta love those RH knives!

Any chance of sharing a photo of the stamped ricasso areas.  Mostly interested in the RH side (the most the has the RHXX and the circle or oval...

You probably already know this, but the sheath for the 74P is not original. Is the handle green and black?

The 72P looks like it might have a bit of sharpening wear on it.  I have also seen (am chasing one now actually) handles that are black with swirls of red through it (or red with swirls of black).
