The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I'm curious if anyone knows what the maximum length of a fixed blade hunting knife is in FL when worn openly in the field? Again, would this measurment be based on cutting edge or as measured (probably) from the hilt or bolster?
Never really gave it much thought before, but there's so many laws out there today, you never know when you're in violation?

Kent, here is a link to a previous discussion posted by iKC's own Glenn K: http://www.iknifecollector.com/forum/topics/know-your-local-state-c...
He lives in Florida too.
Wow,
Guys.. thanks because I carry small and in my pocketbook I never check these out but I should
Steve & Jan-I replied to Glenn K's posting on FL -"Know Your Laws"-As I stated to him, the definition of an "ordinary pocket knife" seems a bit vague to me? Does one consider a person wearing a Buck 310 Lockback Folding Hunter or similar make, an "ordinary pocket knife"? Or only a folding knife carried in your pocket?
I've seen guys carrying similar folding knives in a sheath, worn openly on their belt? Or are they "illegal"?
God forbid you strap on a hunting knife while out deer hunting in FL unless you have your conceal carry license & keep it hidden.
I think I'm just getting too old & out of step for FL as well as a lot of other places in the "Lower 48"? Too many laws-too many regulations.
I wonder if the term "ordinary pocket knife" has ever been defined by the law?
