That looks great Alexander, how are you liking it? Is it an actual EDC for you and if so, was it a good choice?

I really like the #12 frame, but the powder horn seems like a totally different animal than the #12 Toothpick. The Tpick is slender and classy, while the Powder horn is more robust and ready to go. I love the added thickness and the use of the BIG Clip is really attractive for this frame. I love your knife and the pics are great. I have a list of knives I want to add to my collection, but the old favorites sneak back up and get in the way.

Congrats on a fine looking beauty.

Hi Johnny,

Thanks, I carry all my knives. Right now it's in my pocket at the office....in fact, the pictures were taken at the office (I was alone here at 7am).

It's quite a good knife for an EDC. It's actually about the same weight as my A.G. Russell Curved Regular Jack. So the weight doesn't bother me. It sits kind of in between my biggest slipjoint (the A.G. Russell Large Sowbelly trapper) and the #72 lockback. It's quite nice.

I actually wanted a classic #12 toothpick...but this one was cheaper and I didn't want to spend too much money trying out the pattern.

Looks great, Alexander.  Fantastic  job on the pics.  One thing I really like on these is the sunken joint on the pen blade.  The main is nearly so, but the run up of the pen in the closed position doesn't stick up at all to poke or stick you when you're using the main blade.  Wish more GECs were made this way.

Thanks Handmade, it looks SOOO much nicer in real life. In fact everytime I look at the pictures I'm annoyed that I couldn't captivate the true sheen of it.

Thanks a lot. Don't have a DLSR, just a small compact and all these pictures were taken with the camera on my phone. It works fairly good. I'll try taking some pictures outside sometime. Part of the problem is the looking glass though. Makes it hard to focus on the right spot.

Alexander,

I got one of these too and couldn't find anything wrong with mine - I didn't look close enough maybe. I was impressed with it as an EDC from GEC. Not an EDC as I refer to my carrying knives but a knife that GEC would not call #1 quality. I too really like the powderhorns. The extra width fits my hand a bit better than the std. #12. The pearl really makes it a classy carry too. Now I just wish that GEC would make one for us in their GEC lineup with 440 SS blades and American Elk handles. I would REALLY like that!!!

Alexander,

WOW, your phone did a great job on those pics.  I find the outdoor photos work best for me also (but I am a horrible photographer).  Very good looking powderhorn!!!!!!!!!!
