Here are my two kills for this past deer season.  I let a lot of does and several smaller bucks walk.

I got this one on December 10.  He was a seven point (although one point was pretty small) and weighed 165 pounds.

This one jumped the fence at the wrong time on January 21.  He was a six point and weighed 162 pounds.

Congratulations Charles! I tried but did not get one. Well done for sure!

We are fortunate here in Alabama in that we have a good long season. Our bow season opens in mid October and runs through January. The gun season opens in mid November and runs through January. The limit is two a day, one of which can be a buck. So if I got my limit every day of the season, I could legally kill about 210 deer each season. Of course 207 would have to be does. We don't have to fool with tags or checking them in anywhere. All we have to do is add big game to our hunting license. That does kick the price up to $24. We are supposed to keep a harvest record when we kill a buck, but in seven years of hunting here no one has ever checked mine.

Congrats Charles, good deer. I wish I could have hunted more this season but I was sick for most of our season. You did a great job, I'm so happy for you.

Good work.  What a great system AL has for deer hunting.  Makes much more sense that what we do in FL.  Of course in FL the deer are not too much bigger than a large dog

Nice job Charles.  Nothing like putting some meat in the freezer. It looks like that 6 point has a pretty nice spread.

If the six pointer's right antler had matched his left, I would have considered him a wall hanger.  His antlers had considerably more spread and mass than the seven point even though their body weight was within three pounds of each other.  I started getting pictures of him in January of 2011 on my game cameras.  At that time he had one spike about three or four inches long on his left side.  The next season he was a five point, four on his left and one spike on his right.  This past season he grew what you see in his picture.  I got quite a few pictures of him from January of 2011 til he jumped the fence for the last time this past January.  I even named him.  I started calling him Lefty because of his left antler.  After I killed him, I wrote a story about him using several of the pictures of him.  I have even thought about posting the story on this site as a blog but have been hesitant since it doesn't involve knives.

Paul, please post the story, here in the Outdoor group. Johnny Two Shoes and I have posted stories about our outdoor adventures. The members will enjoy it and the pictures will help to. If there's some way I can help out, let me know. Rob
