The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I wanted to update all of the members who are interested in the knives we are having made for us by GEC. Derek, Bill and I have been talking about this since our first knife was in the process of being made and have decided that we are going to do a Eureka Jack. We wanted to, again do an older pattern and if you look at the picture that I have included you will see 3 Eureka's. From the left, a custom knife made for me by Ken Erickson an OVB marked knife that was made by New York Knife Co and a Carrier Cutlery salesman's knife. The knife that GEC will be making will have some items from each of these. I have always loved this pattern and since it is an old one thought that it would fit in nicely with what we are doing.
Derek will be updating our website as you knives are being made and you can go to the GEC site to see the knives also. We are hoping to have the knives done by the end of Feb or the begining of March.
We will be doing something special with these also like the wiping cloths being added to the first knife so keep checking the 2 sites for more info.
Thanks Mike & Derek, JBF Champlin & Sons Cutlery

I am really getting ansy now about getting the knives!!! Just checkout this picture I was sent showing one of the first Rosewood??? knives to come off the line at GEC. The color of the wood is WAY better then I could have ever imagined. On the site seeing all the wood handles and all the different shades in them has really got me going!! So much so that when Donna saw it she said we are not selling any we are keeping them all LOL
Omg!!!
Real nice, should make someone happy.
Funny, when I show people my traditional knives (any brand), almost without exception, people say "That's a nice pocket knife. I didn't know people carried such nice knives!" When I used to carry a tactical folder and showed it to someone many would say "That looks dangerous!" LOL!

If you know someone that does not get knives, show them one of these and if they still dont get it there is no hope for them...
This is going to be one of those knives people are going to wish they had gotten (IMHO)
Just look at all the colors in that wood! I'm with Donna, I want 'em all!
I just checked the GEC website. After being mum about the Eureka's for nearly a week, now they are announcing Tidioute Eurekas with what looks like jigged bone and rosewood handles. The tooling must be theirs to do with as they please. But what about the Champlins? Are they getting close?
Here is the latest from GEC this morning. The blade openers have been shipped on Friday so I will have them tomorrow. The knives should be shipped to me today and I should have them Wed. I have all day Friday scheduled to get them mailed out. Sorry for the longer wait on them, thanks Mike
It will be worth it Mike :)
