The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Ladies and Gentlemen, I must confess I was brought to tears this morning. And I am not easily brought to tears. I am the one who, when everyone else is panicing in the midst of catastrophy, is calmly figuring out what to do about it.
Somebody on this site is too good and too generous. I am sure that most of you know that I was watching a very nice Case Whitetail Trapper on Tracey Reed's website and salivating over it. I wanted it very badly but was waiting because I had only recently bought four Case knives and was going to be at SMKW in two weeks. Then a few nights ago when I went to Tracey's site to drool over it again, it was gone! Somebody had bought it.
Well, when the mailman came today, there was a box from Reed Cutlery! I thought, "This can't be. I didn't order that knife!" But it was. When I opened the box, there was the knife and a note that said it was a gift from someone who wished to remain anomymous!
Whoever you are, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. But that is just too nice a gift. Please, whoever you are, fess up and let me pay you for it!
I will cherish this knife forever. It will be one of my three favorite knives along side the 2004 In God We Trust Trapper that my son and daughter gave me for a CHRISTmas present and the little shoe knife that my grandmother got at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis.
Again thank whoever you are but please let me pay you for it.
I just have to add, the people on this site are fantastic! And I will get pics of it posted.

Wow, Charles, I'm so happy for you. Please take a picture, we'd love to see it.
Remember, I've heard, that good things happen to people, that do good.
Every day something happens on this site that reminds me how blessed we are to have the friendships we have made here. To the anonymous donor......may the gift bring joy to your heart and blessings to you and yours
To Charles: Smile and enjoy it, it was something that someone just wanted to do

That is a completely awesome tale!! Another reason why I love this place! Congrats...and to the donor, what a hell of a nice thing to do!
Charles, I am so happy you are pleased with the knife. Please accept my apology for not responding to your email inquiring if we had another of these Whitetail trappers. The knife was on the way to you and I knew I could not spin a good enough story to hold you off. It was such a pleasure to be a part of this for you. Enjoy the knife, and enjoy the kindness of others who act on what their hearts tell them to do sometimes.
You can be sure I will enjoy the knife, Tracey. I was just overwhelmed when I received it. When I took the box out of the mailbox, at first I thought maybe you had made a mistake and sent the knife to the wrong person. When I read your note, I could hardly believe it. The knife means much more to me now than if I had bought it myself. Every time I look at it (and I will look at it a lot and handle it too!) I will be reminded that someone thought enough of me to do that. Out of my over a hundred knives, it will be one of the top three.
You have nothing to apologize for. I am just so happy to have the knife. I would not ask or expect you to reveal a confidence. This is just another indication of the class of people we have on this site.
And again, whoever you are, many many thanks!
Amazing the things iKC folks will do for one another
