Hi Guys,

I have just purchased what I feel maybe a pretty rare LB8, apparently 100 were stamped like this in 94' so kinda happy with this one. There is no serial number on the Bolster, so I was wondering when they stopped this ? any help would be great.

The LB8 is in my top 3 Knives to be honest I love them.

Cheers

JT

Nope Steve, It's a 100th anniversary Stockman on an 8OT frame. I think the wood handle is Maple but don't quote me on that. It's one you don't see very often. Thanks for the compliment Steve!

That is a good looking stockman, John. :)

Are my six eyes (with bifocals) deceiving me, or is it a 858OTY?

Steve

Maybe you could send it back to Schrade and get another that doesn't have quite as strong backspring? Just trying to help. I have no experience with the china schrades or their return policy. I wish you the best!

John, I would not bet anything I didn't want to lose on that,

So far my offshore Schrade's have held up just as well and my old USA made Schrade's

They have not gotten any looser, regardless of where they were made.

Steve

Considering that it is a new Schrade vs an American made Schrade I would think that after a little use it will loosen up considerably.

Question on the new made BTI Old Timer 858OTB:stockman

Is a pull of between 7 and 8 on all the blades "normal"?

The stiff pull is the only thing keeping the one I bought at the end of December, out of my pocket.

I prefer a pull between 4 and 5; a 6 at the most. I do not like fighting with my knife to open it. Especially not on the winter when I'm cold.
