An Indian Totem pole knife for a little Cajun girl.

This is a knife and handle project, for my late wife. A friend sent me the wonderful carved handle and Mr. Larry Pridgen, a great knife maker [ one of our members] put them together. What a wonderful job by all the people involved. My wife was a big supporter of our American natives, she had made several out fits [dresses] that she wore from time to time. She would have loved this knife.

I am simply awed by the artisanship of this wonderful knife.  Thank you for sharing!

Wow! That is extraordinary! That carved stag handle is without a doubt the most amazing that I have ever seen! And that Pridgen Damascus blade is fantastic, as well! I'm sure this knife will serve you well and will one day be passed down to your girls. I can think of no better tribute for your wonderful wife, Robert. I'm sure she's smiling down and nodding her head in approval right now.

Cheers, my friend!

Yes Mam, they like knives, not as much as I do, though. They love this and want me to make [or have made] a wooden plack to display it on. If my wife were here she would be using it, not putting on the wall. She was one of the few women I knew that could clean a rabbit, squirrel or fish. The girls both have their own outdoors and camping knives. I bought my oldest grand daughter her own shotgun last year. It's a 20 ga. double barrel. The youngest one went to a skeet shoot, this spring, put on my a local gunsmith. She borrow a single shot 28 ga. and beat every one in the contest, boys and girls. Paw Paw was proud, to say the least. It looks like another shotgun is in our future...lol

Robert,

I had goosebumps when I saw this finished knife.  Larry did a fine job of preserving that handle while making a knife you and she would be proud of.  Do the girls like it?

Such beautiful detail. The Damascus blade goes very well with the intricate handle. A very nice piece well done by Mr. Pridgen and the artisan who crafted the handle. That is truly an heirloom knife. I can't think of a better way to honor someone. Thanks for sharing this with us, Indian!!
