Comment by Ricky Ray on December 11, 2012 at 8:15: LOL Craig, I have that same problem. Usually it's the Delrin handled knives from the Cooper era (1977-1984). I think they were experimenting with an automated way of installing the shields by heating them and "melting" them into the handle. Of course that is purely a guess on my part.

Some time ago, I had Terry send me several Boker shields...just in case. Sometimes I get one that has a shield that's a tad crooked. Being somewhat obsessive compulsive, I have to remove it and replace it straight! LOL!

Comment by Ricky Ray on December 10, 2012 at 21:32: I just picked up this used green bone 7588 Boker stockman from the 1980s-1990s. Got it cheap because the shield was missing. But Terry at Boker USA hooked me up with a proper shield and now she looks great! Just in time for Christmas.
