Jon, just to give you an idea on the Case Classics-Here are 6 of mine and the quantiites produced- Top to bottom-- sorry for the lousy pic--

1-Bird of Paradise- Prototype- 1990-

2-End of Day-Prototype--1990

3-Violet Mosaic--1992-1 of 25 produced

4-Cherry Chip-1990- 1 of 105 produced

5-Royal Monarch-1990- 1  of 105 produced

6-Thanksgiving Harvest-1990- 1 of 275 produced

I am getting my emails.  I am reading your posts but I am so busy trying to bring this Department into the 21st Century.  I am reorganizing their filing, new badge design, new patrol car, new patch design and new DHS approved Police ID.  Busy...busy.

Jon, about your clasp knives-- You are correct-- Buffalo, Bulldog, Zipper, etc. are all names for the same #72 clasp knife-- Generally, you are right that the blade etch determined the name ( the buffalo or the bulldog) but it has kind of become a generic term for the 72 clasp knife-- You may see them called that even without the appropriate blade etch. Case introduced this pattern around 1915.When you are talking Case Classics, you are talking the same knife with a little different history. When Jim Parker owned Case (circa 1989-1993)- He designed the Case Classic line-- Very low production knives of old Case patterns along with many prototypes-- The Case Classic clasps were licensed by Case, but actually made by Blue Grass Cutlery.--- Still, very collectible and sell for a good price.( I own several Case Classic Clasps, including a couple of prototypes).

Thanks very much Mr. Hines - any ideas about the various names, "Bulldog", "Buffalo", "Clasp"? Are they the same knife pattern with different blade etchings? Thanks again for the help. Best - Jon
