Schrade USA had been part of my family for years prior to their shutdown. Mom, Dad, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers and sisters all worked at Schrade. One uncle ran the Custom/Prototype/Quality control division, another Uncle was a Custom Knife and prototype-Master Cutler and Mom worked Qality control for a lot of years. Mom had 37 years with the company and one uncle had 40 years with Schrade.

Good article Craig, it looks to be from the one I saw on the Schrade collectors site. I thought his was from 1980, thanks for confirming it. The one I got is from 1981.

Yes, I think it was a good idea, it tipped me off and I got a good buy, and I thank you for it. So nothing wrong with that.

Glad you were able to get that knife, That was a good price, I think it slipped under the radar . I did not know if it was a good idea or not to say something about an ebay item on here, would it be good to say something again in the future if I see a good deal on a knife ? I looked later and someone had another knife like these listed as a buy it now for $ 89.

Ken , from what I have read on these, the numbers on the other bolster tell the date. The characters are SW and I cannot make out what the third one is, but the fourth character is a number and is supposed to be the last digit of the year. Yours would be 1980. On the schrade collectors site, there is a nice brochure about these knives under IXL. Let me know if you can't find it.

If I remember correctly, the "O" in the Hallmark on yours indicates it was made in 1980.
