I've seen several examples of really good looking trappers recently but they are small about 2 1/2 inches. But I will say I not only like the look of the Trapper but it slips into a pocket so much…Continue

That is sweet, Dustin. That is a nice looking piece of stag on that trapper.
I really like the 40 pattern dogleg or jumbo Trappers like the one in the photo Jan sent. I got a stag in the pattertn from the Centennial series & have three of the Limited Editions : '96 Antique Olive and black and blue bone from '97 & '98. 40's seem to be a fairly rare pattern.
I'm sure that my two Spirit of Freedom 54 Trappers have '90 dated blades, despite the fact their embellishments are for the two phases of the first Gulf War, which was in 1990 and 1991. I understand that such anomalies are not unusual in Case tang stamps. My green bone knife's pattern# begins with BG and I think this has some reference to the color, though using a letter to designate a bone color is unusual. The stag knife has just a regular 5254 #.
Thanks. This is a gorgeous knife. It looks like a 40 pattern Dogleg Trapper. Both of mine are regular 54's. The blade etchings look the same as on my knives. I don't have the boxes. The series must have been issued after '91, but the date is so tiny I cant read it. The 200 knife limit must pertain to the 40 patterns only, because my knives serial #'s begin with a 0 and are four-digits.
I should be able to get us some more info but the Case College is down right now
There were only 200 of these made. On the two blades there is these words etched on them. " Spirit of Freedom' and on the other one is" Operation Desert Shield* 1990-91 and Operation Desert Storm ***1991. The kife and the box are in very new condition. The knife measures about 4 1/2 inches long.
This one is actually for sale on ebay
Is anyone familaar with the Case "Spirit of Freedom" series commemorating the first Gulf War? I have a coouple of 54 Trappers, one a dark green bone BG6254 and the other a Stag. The blades have flags, Spirit of Freedom on the clip, and Operation Desert Shield 1990-91 & Operation Desert Storm 1991. These are tang stamped Case XX Bradfor Pa. USA with actual dates, but the dates are so small I can't make out the second digit. It looks like a 0, which would make the blades from 1990, which doesn't jive with the war, which was in '91. The digit coold be either a 2 or 3, which would make sense, but I can't discern it, even with a magnifying glass. The knives have four digit serial #'s. I'd appreciate some imput.
That's a nice looking Trapper, Gary.
