Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I found a Imperial fixed blade tucked away in an old tackle box that I haven't used in several years. I found the knife while fishing and just stuck it in the box. This was before I contracted the knife collecting fever, of which there is no cure only treatment. The sheath is dirty and needs a good cleaning. What do you suggest for cleaning the sheath and what do you use for periodic treatment of leather. All my fixed blades are less than 2 years old and I'm thinking they should probably have something applied to them. Any and all advice is welcomed.

Thanks JJ. for helping out, the product I've suggested is great to restore old and drying out leather. I just don't think it's for cleaning old dirty leather. I think, if you clean it with saddle soap then apply the protein conditioner, your sheath should take on a new life.

Good old saddle soap should clean it up.

Chuck, to clean the leather, may need something else. If you talk to them on the phone, ask them about cleaning the leather first. I think he said something about soaking it in water. I just can't remember but he will know. Maybe another member may know more about just cleaning the leather.

Great!! Thanks very much for digging that up for me. I'd like to try to clean and condition it right the first time instead of trying to repair my own mess.

Yahoo...I found it! The problem was the label had come off the bottle of conditioner, so I was looking for their business card. Their name is "Kali Leather Life", it's a protein lotion cleaner/conditioner for leather products. Their contact info is: Dewitt Matthews..[337] 856-8772....Kalico Products...P.O. Box 28...Milton, Louisiana...70558.  I hope this helps you. This is great stuff, it does a fine job on leather knife sheaths.

No hurry Robert! It's been sitting in a tackle box for years. It's not going anywhere.

Chuck, I have the name of a small Leather treatment company, that has a wonderful product. The only thing is I don't know if they are still in business. I'm gonna check and let you know.
