Every year we have an excuse to buy a new knife -- National Knife Day, every August 24!

Yeah, I know it's a holiday made up by a marketing department to sell knives, & none of us really need an excuse to buy another knife.

That aside, what are your plans for celebrating...?  :)

And since I mentioned Twitter, here's the National Knife Day Twitter feed:  https://twitter.com/hashtag/NationalKnifeDay?src=hashtag_click

And I would be remiss not to include links to a couple more sales:

BladeHQ:  https://www.bladehq.com/ (various knives on sale -- including some not categorized under the sale per se -- as well as a Knife Day contest for a Zero Tolerance knife)

Knifecenter:  https://www.knifecenter.com/  (Kershaw sale)

Botach Tactical:  https://www.botach.com/search.php?search_query=cold%20steel%20knive... (Cold Steel knives on sale)

Karambit.com:  https://www.karambit.com/shop?utm_campaign=National%20Knife%20Day%2...  (10% off with code KnifeDay)

Bradford Knives:  https://bradfordknives.com/ (knife purchase this weekend gets one entry into a drawing for a Guardian 5.5 knife)

DPx Gear:  https://www.dpxgear.com/?utm_source=DPx+Gear+Mailing+List&utm_c...  (15% off everything using code NKD2019)

Grindworx:  https://www.grindworx.com/cat--Sale-Items--83?utm_source=email-broa... (1277 items on sale as of time of posting)

BladeOps:  https://bladeops.com/boker-xl-kalashnikov-recurve-tanto-auto-knife-... (exclusive Boker Kalashnikov Auto with Recurve Tanto Blade, $36, marked down from &89.99)

Those are the sales that showed up in my email inbox today (along with the SMKW sale already mentioned)!  (I also received emails from Case & CRKT for National Knife Day, but apparently chose not to have a sale specifically for today.  HOWEVER, CRKT has teamed up with WorkSharp for a NKD contest for a free WorkSharp sharpener contest -- enter here with name & email, follow the link from this Twitter page:  https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1164279008902688768)

Sorry if I have contributed to dwindling bank accounts & the occasional new knife bite...  :)

Well apparently for National Knife Day I am starting the hottest conversation on this site!  Thanks, Jan!

(I'm in too.)

I was planning to purchase a Fox 479 Karambit folder with digital camouflage G10 scales, timing it such that it would arrive today (nice work to those of you who made similar purchases timed for today -- & JJ, I saw that RR wharncliffe work knife before you posted & it is so cool -- that knife is on my list!).  Then I chose to wait on the purchase, especially since it's a fairly major expenditure.

Then on a whim I searched eBay & found a discontinued 479 karambit in blue kryptek camo for the same price as the other one I just chose to delay.  Finances are tight but that's a grail knife (& I definitely would have had an ever more difficult choice if I had purchased the other 479 -- or any number of the other spendy purchases I could have made, timed to arrive today), & there was another person watching that knife too.  Purchased it at about 1 a.m. today -- I "shopped victoriously," as they used to say.

So technically, there's my celebration, & I am stoked!  Knife on!
