For folders, I tend to gravitate towards Kershaw. I like their overall ergonomic design, and steel quality, particularly their current Sandvik 13C26. It's easy to touch up and retains its edge even after strenuous use.

For fixed blades, I prefer Cold Steel, particularly their medium to large blades. Good attention to detail as to steel and styling, but as with most fixed blades, one needs to find the right grind that works for them, as opposed to what the manufacturer finds is easier to put out en masse. Hand re-profiling to customize the grind can be a nice calming hobby in and of itself. ;)
i have a kershaw blur 1670blk plain edge and it came razor sharp and after 1 month edc its still razor sharp
i believe its sandvik 13c26
I have a Blur too. I don't re-profile my Kershaw's as a general rule, no need to really, but I did lessen the bevel angle on my Skyline to around 15°, just so it's easier to touch up with emery cloth.
Yeah the Blur is 13C26.
iv never re-profiled a blade nor do i know how im just getting into this so i am a bit new with some of this terminology, may i ask what an emery cloth is and if its affiliated with the knife company?
Emery cloth is basically "sandpaper" for metal work, and can be gotten from most hardware/supply stores. The fine grades (100-400) of emery cloth are good for touching up the edge of knives in much the same way as a kitchen steel.
It's hard for me to narrow it all to a single blade, but I'll try and narrow it down as much as possible

Favorite Folding brands are Victorinox and now Spyderco. Victorinox knives are sheeple friendly, and offer me a useful set of tools in a small package. My current favorite is the alox pioneer/soldier. When it comes to Spyderco, I just generally enjoy their designs, and the quality to them. They can be a tad pricey, so I only have one atm; the Delica 4 FFG. I have handled quite a few though.

I have limited experience with Fixed blades only a few. BRKT, Cold Steel, and recently CKC. I've been happy with all of them, but haven't experienced enough to really determine a favorite.
Hello Evan, When I joined the iKC I also thought I had a distinct idea on what knife I like the best, but over the months I bought lots of knives of different sizes, shapes and quality. I love the Benchmade knives because they are well made and can be used. But now I sort of began to enjoy pocket knives more for their beauty, looks, such as the Case knives. I have many fixed blades which are great for the outdoors or the military, but can hardly be carried to my friendly neighbourhood corner store. Basically what I am trying to say is... I have no idea what my favorite knife is!!! I love them all....

very good answer i recently bought a benchmade mini griptillian and i love it
I would have to say the Ka-bar Dozier folder with blaze orange grip and black Aus 8 blade, with the thumb stud, because of the price and because of the looks, i swear this knife can do almost everything... though I should be receiving spyderco's in the mail shortly so that might change pretty quickly lol.
I love Bob Dozier's work, I have fourteen of his blades at this time and zero on order...The original FHL—Large Folding Hunter in D2, that it's based on is just lovely and I've used it a few times on big game and it works very well...My EDC at the lodge is either his KS3 Pro Guide or KS7 Wilderness.

The Ka-Bar version are very well executed and I had to pick up some of the pink handled ones for the ladies in my life (wife and daughters) and what's nice is that they're under $30 CDN in the stores.
