Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Over the last week I acquired 4 blade blanks for customization. The materials they use for their "S" line of products are 440C, manufactured in China.

The ones I selected are pictured below:

The top one will definitely receive a Stag taper handle, the Guthook blank will receive a Purpleheart Wood scales w/ Pink liners(for the younger niece). The bottom 2 are to be more detail specific in the handle materials. I would like some ideas on the materials for those, but keep in mind my skill level when making those suggestions. Novice.

Part Deux:

The knife Fairy brought these to me Tuesday:

Again: Some other blanks that showed up sometime ago:

Got the Green jigged bone Tanto finished.

Well I was just browsing through Premium Knife Supply's store when I saw this beauty. The S7 "Bigger" Raptor with Stonewashed black finish. I put in a max bid of $6 and well...i won the auction.

Gluing the Red liners to the Purpleheart wood handles. Tomorrow I will shape the forward end of the scales and glue one side, then drill the for the pins and remove the excess wood before repeating the procedure for the other side.

Brad, grab a thermometer & check your temperature-- In my medical opinion, you have caught the knife customization bug - By George, I believe you are getting the hang  of this--- Can't wait to see how  this turns out--- My favorite so far is still the Raptor with the Osage Orange scales--- I like that one A LOT !!

Wow Green jigged bone...now thats pretty nice I ,must say!

My sister really loves it too. I did buy the larger version last week.

John,
I was trying to find another one of those smaller Raptor blanks when I came across the larger version. I am thinking of doing that one in Coolibah Burl or Olivewood.
Thanks Steve. My sister's stepson requested the pairing. Turned out better than I thought.

Looking good all the way around, Brad! I can hardly wait to see what you'll do with that black/stonewashed Raptor on steroids! I'm rootin' for olive wood. *nudge nudge ~ wink wink*

I am leaning toward the Olivewood, the Coolibah Burl is darker wood and wouldn't contrast as well as the Olivewood.

There ya go! That would look awesome! And, it would definitely give you the contrast you're looking for.

btw ~ That's a really nice looking hunk of wood you've got there! (words every man longs to hear...lol)

Not from another man we don't. LOL
