Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

A UK friend of mine turned me on to his favorite "propelling" pencil a couple of years ago.  So I got one.  It's a Yard-o-led Diplomat in sterling silver, this one made in 1948. It's not too big at 4 7/8 inches long and weighs about .73 oz (20.7g) with a fair bit less than the full yard of lead in the barrel. Lead size is a healthy 1.18mm. The barrel is hexagonal with a barley pattern.  This is a great desk pencil, but sometimes goes with me in a slip.

I'm looking for suggestions for a knife to pair it with.  I'm just getting started in traditional folders so figured this would be an interesting project to explore new directions.

Thanks very much.

As you're in Japan, how about a traditional Kigonokami knife?

Having just deleted my first reply...

I'm in Taiwan, actually. But the island was a Japanese colony for 50 years until 1945 so there is a great deal of Japanese influence here. A friend has been pointing me at Japanese fixed-blade knives for a couple of months so this certainly fits.  I've also been thinking that one day I should get myself to the Seki cutlery festival since it's so close.

The Swiss Army knife is another interesting idea.  I've certainly seen enough praise of the Cadet.  This one looks like a similar size but with more options.

Thank you

Not sure if you are just into Traditionals, but maybe a Cold Steel Spike series, or a Ti-Lite would look good with that pencil. Just thinking something slim and sleek...

Oops, sorry Dwight.
Let's ammend it to "near" Japan, relatively speaking.

Might I suggest a small pearl handled pen knife?

Lots to explore here!  It looks like this knife is just out.  The pearl handled model is pretty magnificent.
