Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi all, I just became a Case XX dealer and I was unboxing a bunch to check them out and I was a little disappointed. So many of them had scratches, knicks, burs, etc. straight from the factory.

Is this kind of quality just how it is in the Case brand? Just wanted to get your guys thoughts, I was worried if I sold them I would get returns it was so bad.

Many changes have taken place internally at the Case factory over the past several years.  Yes, quality isn't at all like it was was 30, 40 and 50 years ago.  Within the last 20 years it has declined and now we are seeing some shoddy work for sure.  They've changed quality managers recently and also some head manufacturing leaders.  Changes within the plant have been made and they are seeing improvements, but unfortunately it takes time to correct the amount of problems that came along while the "dark ages" were amongst them.  Decent product is being produced, however, there are still alot of subpar products out in the world.  This is information I've obtained through conversations with Case personnel and not just speculation on my part.  Am I disappointed in what I've seen from Case recently, yes I am.  Have I given up on Case...NO I have not and will not.

I have had to return a knife with several problems, fresh out of the box. A huge nick and mark on blade, also bolster was dented. They fixed blade  under warranty but did not fix the bolster. I had another that was returned by customer, the blade did not go flush on the bottom when open, I just gave it away rather than mess with it. I have quit buying case knives for a while.

That is good to hear they changed quality managers because it was seriously needed, I was blown away

I agree the overall quality has gone down. I see many new knives on the bay that to me look like the blade grind is off. I have returned knives to Case Cutlery for such issues. The did repair or replace the knives but I paid for the postage Ins for return. ! other complaint of mine is that the cost of the products have reached outrageous prices for the quality of the knives. As a result my collecting Case Products is coming quickly to an end.

You can see the high points of the back pattern are worn off, this came from the factory like this. Like it was scraped against something and no one noticed.

This one has a huge scratch coming down from the tip, it was definitely a scratch to I couldn't run my nail over it it would get stuck.
