Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

A few of us have been clamoring about knifes that we would like to see. Johnny Two Shoes would like a peanut and a traditional whittler. I would like a scout/utility knife and a traditional whittler. What would you folks like GEC to make next? I'd like one of those spiral cut Red Buffalo Horn Whalers too while we are wishing for things (but that is an existing pattern). I was looking at some of the camp/scout/utility knives that I already have by Camillus, Ulster, Utica, Western (see my photos if interested) and it would seem to me that GEC could make one like these fairly easily (yeah it's easy for me to say) out of their current #53/#54 frame. It might be hard to incorporate the corkscrew that I wanted in our "Gone Camping" discussion in this frame but those folks at GEC work wonders! I have an older Boker Camp knife (see my pics) that has all of the bells and whistles but it doesn't really match any existing patterns and is a beast of it's own.

So what do you all think? I'd be interested in suggestions of new knives and also the scales that you'd like to see on them.

I am looking to see where I saw this but I swear I read that there would be a 23 lockback.  Let me see if I can find the source of my memory on that
GEC has let out its September schedule and it has 23 and 23L on it. I wonder if that 23L is a lockback?

SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE ~

#12 Single Blade Big Clip

TIDIOUTE CUTLERY: Beaver Tail, Jigged Bone, Ebony Wood

NORTHFIELD UN-X-LD: Cocobolo Wood, Snake Wood, LG + Pearl, Burnt Stag, Primitive Bone

#12 Powderhorn Jack – 2 blade

TIDIOUTE CUTLERY: Beaver Tail, Jigged Bone, Ebony Wood

NORTHFIELD UN-X-LD: Cocobolo Wood, LG+ Pearl, Burnt Stag, Jigged Bone, Genuine Stag

#12 Single Blade Templar

NORTHFIELD UN-X-LD: Three acrylics, Black Micarta

#23 Single with Lanyard Hole

TIDIOUTE CUTLERY: Ebony Wood, Grizzly Bone, Bocote Wood,

NORTHFIELD UN-X-LD: Jigged Bone, Cocobolo Wood, Burnt Stag, Genuine Stag

#23L Single Blade with Lanyard

TIDIOUTE CUTLERY: Grizzly Bone, Bocote Wood, Ebony Wood

NORTHFIELD UN-X-LD: Jigged Bone, Cocobolo Wood, Burnt Stag, Genuine Stag

The 23L would be a linerlock I beleive.  That one has been made previously

wonder what the #12 Templar is????

Would think it'd be a toothpick shape.  Be interesting to see...

Thats exciting, my love for the #12 would force my hand on a knife like this.

I've been EDCing one of my 1095 GECs a lot as of late, and I really do enjoy the steel. But, since I have such a love for the stainless I hate to be without it, I was thinking GEC could do a Tidioute/GEC knife. One that had both SS, and Carbon. Like a Muskrat knife.

How about a Moose instead, it gives you a choice of two different blade styles instead of of one. Johnny, you're an outdoorsman, a moose style is real handy while hunting, fishing, camping and [one of my favorites] woods crusing with my dogs.
Johnny, they already made your knife. The 2010 rendezvous knife was the first release of the 66 muskrat. It had a Tidioute Blade and a Northfield blade with Blue Abalone handle scales. Both blades are 1095,my mistake. The 66BJM is also on the same frame, but with  Blades in the Moose configuration. BJM stands for Bullwinkle J. Moose. That is a reference Johnny probably won't understand. He's way too young!

Johnny,

you are correct one blade 1095 and one SS WOULD be very nice.  I would like it in either the 66 or a moose but the 66 is a favorite for me.  I am willing to bet that you are not so young that you could not remember Bullwinkle and Rocky.  Maybe if the next rendevouz knife is a two blade we could convince Great Eastern to do one of each

I'd like to see a 33 pattern whittler, but a real split spring design like the 89 pattern. I'd also like to see a Whaler without the second blade. The little blade seems a bit extraneous. I use my Whaler quite a bit, and its one of the ones I carry the most, but the small blade is never useful and it makes for a less than good grip sticking out of the handle like it does.

Jan is correct,

I do know of Bullwinkle and Rocky. : ) It has been a while since I've seen them on TV though.

I would love for GEC to make a smaller lock back that had an extra non locking blade. Kind of like those old Gerber stainless knives. I think GEC could really make an excellent knife like that. Also, I'd like to see a bail on something soon, like a camp knife. : )

David,

Yuor the first person I have heard say you use your Whaler.  Can you tell us about it?  I can imagine as a user the secondary blade would be not the best for gripping. Would a second blade be ok if it were more flush?  If you could have your whaler made what handle would it be?
