What is Gun blue and where do you purchase it?

The are many types. What I used this time might be the easiest . It is called Birchwood-Casey brand, Super Blue, liquid gun blue. It is available in almost every gun store. I can't remember if I have seen it in large stores such as Wal-Mart, but I would be surprised if they did not have it.  I usually throw instructions away, as being just their opinion as to how to do it, but in this case I suggest you follow them exactly, in order, using denatured alchohol as stated and not others types you may have around. Good luck.

Thanks for the idea.

AG Russell sells a product called Rust Free that works great on carbon steel knives. I think meneral oil works good also but if you use your carbon steel knife alot just dry it good after each use works good for me.
