Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi everyone and welcome to our newest members,

Something we have not talked about lately is new aquisitions.  Tell us about your latest and greatest GEC.  Donnie bought me both the new 23's in the Beavertail (Worlds greatest husband by the way)  He got himself the newest 73 in Primitive bone.  THAT is a heck of a nice knife.

What have you gotten lately?

Dana, another a beauty for sure.

I love GEC's SS blades, they hold and edge well and get pretty darn sharp. I appreciate having a good quality SS folder on me for food prep. That one looks like another winner, especially with the wharncliffe blade, it should be a heck of a cutter.

Thanks for noticing johnny and Trand. These knives are becoming a part of my eternal soul. An arsenal of truth and beauty.

Hey Johnny Thanks,  I love bringing one of my GEC's to restaurants to cut my Filet Mignon with. It becomes a great topic of conversation.

I received a new #53 Furtaker Trapper yesterday. This time its Curly Maple. Really nice wood on them, I'm surprised they're still available...

And this one is the prize of my collection. Its 1 of 3 2007 Factory Test Run #73s GEC made with Desert Ironwood. As far as I know, these 3 were the only ones GEC made with Desert Ironwood. I won this knife in a very generous and fun giveaway by Mike Latham. Thanks again Mike!!

I'd love to see GEC use Desert Ironwood some more. I think it looks good in just about every pattern they make. Here's the #73 with a #12 Toothpick and #61 Half Congress I had rehandled in DI burl.

Thats a great one Ron, love the long pulls.

Great scales colors too, looks like you got a good one. Is this one headed to the pocket?

Trand, congrats on that #73, it's an awesome knife.

Trand, I wonder why GEC quit using Desert Ironwood on their knives? Good question for Pat Vroman....Maybe it was too expensive, too hard to work with or something like that. Just about every custom knifemaker uses it though. May want to ask the question on the forum on GEC's web site to get Pat's response.

Ron,

I like that #26 in Tractor Green. It is one of my favorite bone colors. One of my first Northfields - a 54W Stockman/Whittler had Tractor Green handles & I love that knife and it's jigging. When GEC did other knives in this color bone they changed the jigging and I didn't like it quite as much. I think it looks even better in person, at least it does on my knife.

Here's my 2nd Beaver Tail

Thats a beauty Dana, is that cherry wood?

I have one, but I think the wood is of a different breed. Either way great knife, I love mine.

Hi Johnny, Gee I'm not sure. The website took it off the page as soon as I bought it. I did manage to snag that picture though. It might have said Brazilian cherry.

Ron Dumeah and the tractor green!!!  Glad its home and it is a beauty.  What comes next?

Tom,

Now you have me curious about the ironwood.  We need a Beavertail in that

Dana,

Now your talking to me!!!  I love that Beavertail

Jan, I thought you might.

Trand,

Wow,  That Ironwood is indeed a beauty
