Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I had hoped that I'd be spending more time fishing after the county built a new fishin' dock at a nearby reservoir. Linda's recent back issues and surgery has kept me at home though.
Getting another sling bag that I can easily carry is getting me ready for spring. While visiting the eBay I stumbled across this Sabre (Ireland) fishing knife that had seen it's better days.
No scales and no bolsters. Well, I made an offer that was accepted. It came in the other day and I was actually pleased with the purchase. A few shots of WD40 loosened up the movement and cleaned out the rust leaving a fairy solid knife.
The blades each have a decent snap and the knife blade is decently sharp.
Now, I have 2 options; I can simply drop it into my fishin' bag or I can make some sort of scales for it.
Time will tell.

After thinking on it for a couple days, I decided that it needed some bulk to feel decent.

Picked up some thin oak wood at the Home Depot and spent too long trying to shape them.

Finally got it down to a comfortable thickness where it feels right.
