A-Z index for Research & Resources

Some great Research and my thanks to the tireless work done by Sue OldsWidow. Check out that index, you just may be there for days! Also her research turned up an old resource that is worth revisiting if you have not seen.

Produced by iKC Member Tobais Gibson its a good reference for collectors: http://apg2k.hegewisch.net/index.html

I could not have said this better myself Mr Hanner!

Rob,

I agree, it may even be a white hunter. The etching on the blade says Sportsman Guide

Hi Joel - This looks like a German copycat of the PUMA  6375 or 6399 "Puma Original White Hunter Auto Messer", PUMA "Original Bowies & Puma Original White Hunters" were widely copied in the 70s  and 80s.  You might try some German makers like Gutman, PIC, Anton Wingen Jr., etc.  Post WWII many of the SOLINGEN based makers shared designs and styles and many continued to the end of the 20th century

Im new to the group, i have a knife that ive had for a couple of years know and have never been able to know anything about what kind it is there are markings on the blade but barely readable, if there is any information or feedback of how to identify knifes would greatly appreciate it, ive done countless google searches, library books, but have found nothing helpfull!

WILL DO AND THANK YOU AGAIN!

John, you may be able to narrow that age down a bit, possibly by the handle material/tang stamp combination.  A little history here from the former owner of the tang, AG Russell.  If you cannot find old catalog pages on line, you could always go to our AG Russell group and ask him yourself.

Looks like 1945-1980 thanks for your help!

Dating on a Hen & Rooster is done by tang stamp changes.  You can find the pics and years here
