I'd like to know if it's a pattern that Ka-Bar came up with on their own several years ago, or there's more history to the pattern. oh well.....
You made a good choice Robert! I think it looks sharp in the black smooth bone!
The RR Boxcar Whittler is the first of this pattern that i have seen also. It is a verywell built knife and should hold up under extreme use. it caught my eye because i have not ever seen or heard of this pattern.the dealer that i buy my knives from just got it in and wanted tom see how it sold. Did not last very long as i bought it!
Ah yes, RR1044, the Boxcar Whittler. I need to get one too.
Speaking of the Boxcar Whittler........does ANYONE know thw history of the pattern? I haven't been able to find anything on it eccept that Ka-Bar made one. Did Ka-Bar come up with the pattern themselves? Does the "Boxcar" pattern have a history beyond that? I don't remember seeing anything about it 30 or 40 years ago. Everyone I ask doesn't seem to know anything about it.....or they don't care about it.
Picked up my RR1020 damascus lockback friday-very nice! i also got a RR1044 sqare bolster whittler in black smooth bone - very nice also, also ordered a RR paratroper bowie.
Thank a lot Billy, I appreciate it!
That first one is a "Brown Bone" Copperhead. In came a very pretty (to me) olive green!! It would be fine and dandy to me if they did a whole series in that olive green.
Nice pics, Craig.
And when you're buying RR, you can actually buy an extra without taking out a home loan!
I love that bone handle, sometime when ordering Chirstmas presents I order an extra...lol
