Who knows a bit about the COLD STEEL TRAIL MASTER model(s)?

I have two, both thirty plus years old.

TM #1 Looks to be a standard Trail Master, rubber handle, synthetic sheath, all original papers, label says:

NO. 16JS

1PC.

TRAIL MASTER

MADE IN JAPAN

I've owned this knife for over thirty years...new in the box

TM #2 Looks to be a Trail Master, stag handle, leather sheath, knife has never been placed into sheath, all original papers, label says:

16S

TRAIL MASTER - STAG

1 PC.

 Opposite end label reads:

MADE IN USA

Any guidance, tribal knowledge, advice will be appreciated.

Thank you, stay healthy!

Golden Eye

Unfortunately two of the pocket clip screws were not finished properly & had sharp burrs -- opened up my finger when drawing the knife from my pocket.  Easily remedied with a diamond plate sharpener, but didn't even occur to me that this would be an issue on a $100+ knife.  Planning to let Cold Steel know about the issue, but not expecting it will lead to any changes.

Jaron, I've been buying Cold Steels since I started collecting over a decade ago, but I'm not aware of any centralized resources like the ones to which you're referring.  The funny thing with collecting Cold Steels is that it seems like it's something people aren't quite as open about, unlike other brands such as Buck, Case, Spyderco, & Benchmade.

But anyone who has shopped on eBay for used Cold Steels, or models no longer in production, will have no question that people are definitely collecting these knives.  Frankly, I think it's in part due to Cold Steel (the company) seems to prefer to emphasize their knives' abilities to perform (& not sit on a shelf collecting dust -- & value).  And I would bet this ultimately helps drive up the collectability of their knives -- from the lower end older Voyagers to the upper end folders & historic replicas.

That being said, there's likely more out there for Cold Steel collecting resources than I'm aware of.  I'd love to find out what a couple of my Cold Steels are worth without having to list them on eBay, so let me know if you find any of these resources.

Regardless, having less of a collector-base means that you are more free to determine your collection based on what YOU value, and the knives YOU like, as opposed to having that dictated to you by a specific group of collectors.

Hey everyone - New CS collector, long time knife collector here. So wondering, any price guides, or online site detailing all the collector blades in one place? I have became a fan of the spikes and the rescue blades, mr1 and scouts so far.

Hey, fellow Cold Steel collectors. I'm looking for a Sheath that goes with the Frontier Bowie. Anybody got one that they could part with??

I just love the older cord-wrapped handled Cold Steel Spikes. Incredible little knives, and a great bang-for-the-buck. I need to find the Scimitar Spike to finish off the collection.

I really like Cold Steel USA made knives. My favorite is the Trailmaster of which I have 2..
