Ryan,

I  know that previously you did mention that all the knives would be 100% American made and you would not be opening a new factory.  I read in the family history you posted, that you and Ken had many different makers for the first few Daniels Family offerings.  I guess since the first few offered (since you acquired the Tuna Valley name) were Great Eastern's, a lot of folks were hoping that would be the majority maker. Although I have never owned a queen/schatt & morgan, I have certainly held and admired many through shows and other collectors.  Like many, my bank account only allows for so many knives.  Like others have stated and you all know, I enjoy collecting GEC.  With that being said, I certainly am open to buying a pattern within TVCC that I want, regardless of the maker you choose.  I am extremely partial to USA made and high quality.  Stick with that and I am still in.

I certainly appreciate that you offered to refund any misunderstanding involved.  That is the quality of relationship I have always enjoyed in every interaction with the Daniels family.

Have you ever said anything that you regret or had to take back? I'm not trying to waffle but I may have been too harsh and need to reconsider some of my earlier comments. I agree with much of what has been said in all of your posts about GEC made vs. Queen/S&M made. While I have been very loyal to collecting GEC knives over the past 4 years or so I occasionally get caught up in the hype over a knife that after buying I think "why"? I have admired many Queen & S&M's myself since I started collecting knives and I do have one lone S&M but a fair number of Queen City Cutlery Classics and a few vintage Queen City knives. The main reason that I don't have more of them has been the affordability of collecting multiple makers. I agree with the comment made that you should just collect what you like. I have looked at Railsplitters, Whittlers, English Jacks, Scout Knives and Queen Mountain Man lockbacks and the newer Heritage series and almost pulled the trigger on them. No doubt that the creativity behind some of these knives and many of my favorite GEC's is also behind Daniel's Family Knives and TVCC's. Additionally Ryan has made a good point that TVCC's goal is to make high(er) quality knives in patterns and out of materials that would not be possible at GEC - and it is hard not to be in favor of this. So maybe I will make an effort to be more open minded to these new TVCC offerings. I will still collect GEC's no doubt but with their ever expanding lines of patterns and handle materials I realize that I can't own them all. Better to refine & define the parameters of what I want to collect and expand my collecting horizons to include some non-GEC made knives too. Better watch out Seth I may be shopping for a few of those sweet Jim Behring fixed blade knives that you seem to have cornered the market on too my friend - money permitting!

I agree Tom, the bottom line is you should buy what you like and can afford. I just happen to like GEC. I also own a few knives from S & M and Queen and there is no doubting their quality. As for the Jim Behring knives, you ain't seen nothing yet. I've got about 20 new ones that I've not posted pics of yet. Jim is currently working on 6 more pieces for me some of which he's using baby elephant ivory as well as a SUPER RARE baby mammoth tusk for the handles. It's the only baby mammoth tusk that has ever had. The tusk is big enough for 5 knives, one of which Jim's keeping for himself but I think that he still has a piece or two of it left so if you're looking to buy one of Jim's knives now would be the time. Tell him I recommended you. Lol!!

In all the years we have collected we have refined and defined and simply changed our minds about a lot of knives and manufactures, LOL.  I simply agree with the buy what you like (I wish my bank acct would let me buy everything I want though).

I am with Jan on this one, will have to live vicariously through you. Jim sure does make some beautiful knives though. Maybe someday I will get one. Just picked up three Randall's so I have to slow down a bit.

I wish my bank account allowed me to buy more knives (and a few of lifes other necessities) too. I need to cull the herd a bit to raise some money for knives that REALLY interest me (like the Behrings that Seth has and some more Randalls) not to mention TVCC's and GEC's!

Tom, I own two Treemans, they are both users, I find them as good as it gets. You may want them for your collection and I can't blame you because they will only gain in value. I have been offered more than I spent for them and they have been used. They are in very good shape though.

I received my Tuna Valley Swing Guard with the Genuine India Burnt Stag scales.  I like the size and blade design but I like the clip point swing guards as well.  The knife is beautiful.  See pics.
