We are the EveryDay Carriers!

We here at the EDC Club are the side of the knife hobby who are the "Users." We are the EveryDay Carriers. Yes, we probably have one or two stuck back either due to sentimental reasons, or the knife was one of those- "just couldn't say no" when we first saw it and now it is a trophy knife in our possession, BUT, for the most part, we are users.

It's hard for us to imagine spending hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars on knives - then stashing them away and not putting them to task, like they were made for. We help knives fulfill their destiny! Yes, they get scratched, tips broken off, and lost, but sitting there collecting dust, all the while its screaming to be carried and used- not our knives.

Granted we may rotate our EDC's in and out based on what we are doing for the day, or our moods, and may even retire one every now and then, but use them we do and are proud of it!

The price does reflect this of course I want to try more of them out and have a couple of griptilian's on the way to me.

You are absolutely right. I haven't changed my EDC in many years, I did however moved my CRKT M16 from the right back pocket to the right front pocket a couple of months ago and just the other day I found myself reaching for it in the back pocket; long memory of long usage.

If we are talking about drawing the knife in an emergency......Yes muscle memory is the best way so practice. However, unless there is a significant difference in the feel of the top of the knife, muscle memory will not work. In law enforcement we do not like to carry a revolver one day and an automatic the next, as muscle memory gets confused on which gun we are pulling from which holster. The feel of a revolver is greatly different than an automatic. I carry a 1911 auto model identical to the Colt 1911. For different duties and carry needs I have three different 1911 models I carry. I have a Kimber Ultra Carry with a 3" barrel, a Kimber Pro Carry with a 4" barrel and a SigArms 1911 with a 5" barrel all of which shoot the .45acp. The point is if you feel you need a knife for emergency split second usage then carry the same knife model everyday. For smaller usage at your desk or opening the mail you can carry a smaller pocket knife like a Victorinox Signature.

As far as carrying point up and point down I prefer point up but it is not a game stopper.

Comment by James Cole on October 17, 2012 at 8:12: Patrik, just practice drawing the knive each day and soon you will be comfortable with the tip down carry. My CRKT M16 is a liner lock and I practice with it a couple time a week using both hands.

I'm a "tip up" kind of guy myself. So, like with Spydero's Military, I would also find the one position clip to be restrictive. But, hey! If that's the only flaw in this knife then I think that I could easily learn to live with it. It's also nice to see a Benchmade knife with a locking mechanism something other than their standard axis lock. I'm probably one of the few who prefers a liner lock.

It sure is a good looking knife!
