Pioneer Gun Show

Lee and I went to our first gun show this weekend. It was A BLAST! I was doing a project for my photography class (we were practicing photojournalism) and I had to take photos of some of the "characters" there.

I met some cool people...check out this guy!

I was so mad because he wasn't supposed to look at the camera and I told him not to look at the camera like 10 times. I couldn't use his photos for a grade because of… Continue

Resuce Knifes Really Do Work!

Ok so we all know that you favorite rescue knife can cut your seatbelt...we've seen it all before. But what you don't get to see a lot of is the glass breaker in action. Why is that? Well simple you don't want to break your window. And it is not nice to break you neighbors window (as much as you might want to). Windows, while easy to pick up at a junk yard, are messy to clean up and you only get one shot where seat belt can be cut several times.

Well fear not friends I have spent… Continue

ZT 300 series or Strider?

If any one has thoughts on which one is better for the money please feel free to drop notes below.

If u own either of the two give me your opinion on it as a owner and if it stands up to your expectations.

What are some other knives that are tough as nails that could stand on level with these 2?

We made the news!!

iKC made the news! I'm talking getting mentioned in a traditional offline knife publication. Yes Sir (figure of speech, there Ladies), we sure did....having Mark Zalesky, a friend and fellow iKC member as the editor, doesn't hurt either.

Mark was kind enough to plug our community in the current edition of Knife World. I must say, I have been a subscriber for many years and… Continue

Let's roll out a big invitation to join us here at iKC

OK, fellow iKC community members, we need to reach out to a knife guy we want here.

I posted the story in this edition of Cutlery News Journal, so I won't reprint it here, other than to say, I ran on a very well respected knife guy out in the blogosphere, who needs to be posting his blogs here, where the knife collectors are.

Check out the story and then click over… Continue

My Custom Ka-Bar BK2

Hello Friends!

Just this past week the NRA annual meeting was in town. We weren't going to go as guns are aren't high on the list right now. But we found out that CRKT was going so we decided to go.

Boy, I am I glad we did. After finding out that SEVERAL knife makers were going to be there we were really excited to go. And what made it even more exciting for me was the day before we were going I got my prize money form the 'My Favorite Knife' video contest.

So with money in hand… Continue

I DON'T LIKE KNIVES/EDGED WEAPONS...

I LOVE KNIVES/EDGED WEAPONS!!!

Even though I use and have a lot of firearms I wish they were NEVER invented. Anyone can pull a trigger. But, not everyone can use a Blade, Sword, Battle Axe, Tomahawk, Warhammer, Naginata, Manriki gusari etc...You can't fight a duel without any skills or kill someone with a knife a thousand yards away.

You have to be up close and looked them in the eyes, see what's going on, when you turn the… Continue

Paracord D-Guard

OK so here we go....

First grab a knife with a lanyard hole and a talon hole, and a boat-load of paracord. The talon hole is a registered trademark of Busse, but I've seen a few knives that have the front guard hole (Kiku Matsuda, i.e.) and the guard will only work if there is a front guard hole.

Also about the paracord, I didn't measure mine but I used a lot of extra. You might want to measure out 9' or so. (if you prefer a thinner guard you can take out the strands… Continue

You can tell the person by the knife he owns

Don't you just love all the different types of knives folks own? All you have to do is look around our community to see it is like Baskin Robbins Ice Cream flavors.

Each person collects what they like and I think you can tell a lot about the person by the knife he (or she) owns, just like someone's hands tell you a lot about that person.

I won't try to detail all the different personalities and preferences here in our community, but I do find it very interesting.… Continue

Just another phobia experience...

Yeah, I know we have talked about those "blade-o-phobes" out there that freak out when you whip out your knife.

This happened yesterday.

I pulled out my LITTLE kershaw scallion to cut my friends tag off her notebook....the girl in front of me was like "oooh, you can't have that! that's illegal!" (she is hispanic and has a cute accent, so picture it that way)

I just rolled my eyes and put it back in my pocket.

Well today in my Photography class we were… Continue

Just got word on Wayne Koons Surgery

Here's the message:

Good morning,

Wayne Koons came through his surgery with flying colors yesterday. The surgery lasted 4-1/2 hours and instead of a double by-pass, he had three by-passes completed. He spent the night in ICU and if all goes as planned he should be moved to a regular room today. He's at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN and will hopefully be headed home for a full recovery in a few days.

You can forward your get well cards to NKCA, c/o…
