The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Our Community is absolutely free to our members and I intend that it will always be that way. I refuse to implement pages you have to pay to enter or any of the other gimmicks.. I know you have all noticed that we now have some ads to pay the basic needs of the community, Go Daddy and Ning. Getting our name out there brings its own set of costs. Recently I have been asked on several occasions recently if there is a way for the members that wish provide help.
Then an Angel…

In Irish lore is a knife is facing up toward the moon then it is a sign of good luck.
The i seen a sight that said a knife pointing upward means danger. (i would go with this one. )
If you give a knife to a friend it will sever the friendship. to reverse the ill luck, you should repay them with a…

I had never heard of this man and find it amazing that with as many knives as he sold there are only a few around. That must mean they were used, not collected. If he could only see them now!
JACK KNIFE BENContinue
It isn't a knife; instead it is a piece of knife lore. A March 1927 issue of The American Magazine had a great article
about Jack Knife Ben himself, written by a journalist named Neil M. Clark.
Jack Knife Ben was really named Benjamin W.…

Swedges have 4 basic purposes:
1. They improve the eye appeal of a blade.
2. They make the blade thinner at the spine and therefore improve it's ability to…

As some of you may know, recently I have caught the 110 bug. I've been buying older used 110's on eBay out of curiosity.
Well, I love these knives. They're easy to re-furbish, re-task and the variations of handles are countless.
This project will consist of a complete tear down, cleaning, New Damascus blade and scales. Plus, re-tasking the old blade into a usable fixed blade. This blog will be updated as the project progresses.
2/12/13 The Spanish Lace Damascus blade…

Some factory-sponsored knife collector clubs have been formed out of necessity. The KA-BAR Collector Club (now defunct) initiated the first such club in the cutlery industry to advertise its name and spur interest in its products during a slumping sales period. Camillus also tried this approach but it was unfortunately too little too late.
We know that by 2002 Camillus was having a hard time surviving in the cutlery business. In the first quarter of 2003 (I believe it was February)…

Several iKnifeCollector members have asked me about my collection database. It is a Microsoft Access file, and if you can use it, I'd be happy to share a copy with you.
All comments are gratefully received.
When I was training to be a librarian, I took many graduate courses, and one of my favorites was Cataloging. My fellow librarians-in-training thought I was out of my mind, but the instructor assured them that every so often an oddball like me would…

I received a conversation copy. I thought about making changes but decided that the conversation is the best way to introduce the pictures and the differences

I just found a reference website. All of you seasoned collectors may already know about it or at least know the information on it, but it is going to be a tremendous help to me in learning more about knives. Particularly any other newer collectors may find it helpful also. When you log on, at the top is a row of six "books". The first two are labeled Reference and Dictionary. Anyone may access these. You have to be a member of their club to access the last four.
But there is…

When I first started collecting knives I bought 3 bulldogs and put them up. They sat for years. When I pulled them out years later the blades where spotted with rust. I was just sick. I started pulling my knives out about every 6 months or so and dust them off and put a very light coat of rem oil on them. Doesn't seem to attract as much dust as some oils I've tried. Bone scales that are a little dry or turning white I do the same thing. Just rub a little rem oil into them. Seems to be…

This is a knife that I have had on my list for a while now. Just curious if any one knows what it is. The guy I got it from said he bought it in 1979 or 1980. Also said he remembers that he paid $50.00 for it. The box is long gone but he still has the sheath for it and will bring it to work Monday. I told him it is going into my display case and after it gets a good cleaning…

Found this yesterday while I was out hunting. It is empty but I think it would be real cool to fill it up. Can anyone tell me what is supposed to be in it?
