Well today I purchased 10 vintage unsearched pocket knives one sterling silver (190648264500) on eBay. Was like $65 for all 10 so I figure if I get one or two that are worthwhile, good job me! And if I get 10 inexpensive blades,…

Got a few things with the mail today.
One is a pocket knife. A Scout that the seller says is made by Imco. When I look that maker up in Cutler Markings it shows two "Imco's". Problem is I cannot read the marking(s) on the blade for the life of me. But the book says both makers are German (probably same company) and I'm guesing German makers probably didn't make Scouts. Could be wrong though. Hell could be way wrong.
I will have to find someone else to take a look. Even…

I also got a book today. I have to remember how to read paper!!
The Goins' Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings. What a great book for a knife dummy like me. Someone here recommended it and I thank you. I will put it to good use for sure.

The first is nothing unique: an Italian Milano switchblade marked "Italian Milano" on the blade. Stainless steel, for what that's worth. Gives quite a jolt when you open it that's for sure.…

The 2nd knive today is a small 3" when closed and 4.5" when opened folder. The large blade says Iroquois Made in the U.S.A. on the tang.
This is a nice little knife I think I'll keep it!
I am waiting for the one sweet knife that I bought to show up but this will do for now.…

I bought a new knife. I liked that it looked like a switchblade but worked like a regular folding knife.
It is a Chinese blade RiteEdge and is 6"long folded.
Nothing spectacular but is very solid and heavy in the hand.
I haven't had much time to walk thru iKC anymore so I have to get back to that, I have enjoyed it so…

Thank you everyone for making this Noob feel so welcome.
I am just an amatuer who loves knives. When I was a kid I collected knives. I loved their beauty and their usefulness. As I got older I spent my time with other things but now I am getting back into collecting. I am focusing on switchblades. I really like their sleek craftsmanship and their kind of hidden deadliness. At the same time I love old pocketknives and their utilitarian usefulness as well a the beauty of a sweet…

On iKC we have an often used Feature called Events. Our hobby to a certain extent, in times both past and present depended on knife shows and events for companies and individuals to showcase the knives that were being produced for consumers. They served as a buying and selling event for sure. Now they also are a way for like minded iKC collectors to meet each other in person and talk about the hobby they love.
Think about it, every year certain Shows are can't miss, blockbuster type…

As we get deeper into the year I want to start having some thoughts in place for the 2012 iKC knife. I have 2 immediate questions
1) Fixed or Folder?
2) materials?
Let me know what ya'll think. I would like to have some ideas in place around the time of the Blade Show (you know the manufactures can't get away from us there LOL)

With Valentines Day on the horizon, I thought I would share a few thoughts with some of you.
I often have knife buddies that say “I wish my wife were involved with my hobby”. So how many of you have tried to involve your better half and what better day of the year to try.
A few suggestions you say?
How about this, instead of a dozen overpriced VDay roses, a rose bush and a small pruning knife. Want a little more personal, get the knife now…have your jeweler engrave I…
