What is your favorite wooden knife handles?

There is a lot of different exotic wooden knife scales out there from all over the world. There's burls, stripes, checks, well almost too many types to list. It seems almost every country has some type of wood that makes excellent knife handles. The question at hand is what is your favorite? If you have more than one, list them all. Please.

Are You Happy With Your Collection?

With all the time, effort and expense are you satisfied with your collection? Did you buy the right kind of knives, over the years? What would you change, if you could, in your collecting habits?

These are some questions I think, we all ask ourselves, in private. I know some have large collections, some have small and some have everything in between. No matter the size or the value, are you happy with that collection? I know we have all bought a knife here or there, that was a…

Aladdin's Lamp

Just suppose you found Aladdin's Lamp and had just one wish and that wish was "You could have any knife you wanted, no matter the cost". What would it be?

Lets Talk Knives.

A long while back an ex-member said "there is just so much you can say about knives" and that we would run out of things to talk about. I personally don't think so. I could talk knives all day long and the night too. There is so many aspects of knife collecting and using that we may be talking for years to come.

One question I'd like to pose to ya'll is "what is your favorite knife topic"? Steels, handle materials, history etc.

My favorite topic is Hammer Forging knife…

Featured Members

Who are they and how did they become Featured Members?

I don't fully know myself. I know that there's only been 23 Featured Members since the beginning of IKC. I know it's an honor to be featured by this great club that we all enjoy so much. I thought we might discuss this amongst us and see what we come up with before Steve and Miss Jan explain it to us.

Vintage Brands

Has anyone ever wondered which knife brand, that has gone out of business in recent knife history, has risen in value and collectability the most. Knife companies like Camillus, Schrade and others. Have ya'll seen a rise in price and interest in these and if so, then which ones. I know that the vintage Winchesters have really gone up in price. I am curious to hear what ya'lls opinion is on this subject. Thanks.

To Patina or not...that is the question?

These two knives are both carbon steel knives that see a lot of use. The top one, I have let form a nice patina and the bottom one I have not. To keep the bottom knife from forming a patina, all I do is polish it, once in a while.

The reason for me to write this article is to show that just because you own a carbon steel knife, you don't have to have one with a…

IKC

I was just thinking of a way to promote our club, a little, and thought how about a knife contest that does just that. We could have a small give away to anyone promoting the club, by pictures or words. Then draw the winner for Thanksgiving.

I'll donate the knife. It will be fun, the more you promote the club, the more chances you get. What do ya'll think? We need to spark things up. Get the membership, excited. It will be Turkey Time, before we know it.

   Please, let me…

2013 IKC Club Knives

I have looked around and I can not find one knife club that has had a knife maker, make their club knives. There very well may be some but I can't find them. This should make our knives this year kinda rare.

September is almost here, along with the due date for this years knives. I am starting to get excited, this will be my third, one.

I want to thank Miss Jan and the staff for their hard work, in getting this years knife project, completed. Also, to everyone that added…

Kissing Cranes or Not!

It's a fact that I collect Kissing Crane knives, mostly German made. In 1988 the company moved it's operation to China, along with a lot of other knife companies.

Recently, I've seen a lot of knives with the Robert Klass shield instead of the Kissing Crane. Both seem to be on the market now days.

What has me stirred up now days is I spoke with a distributor of knives and he said that the Kissing Crane brand is being fazed out and being replaced with the Robert Klass…

Stainless Steel and Symbols

The European countries have different ways of marking their knives that are Stainless Steel. I could be wrong but the marking "Rostfrei" means stainless. Another term that's used is "INOX" ,this means that the steel doesn't Ironize. I am sure the meaning is "it is stainless".

The reason I started this post, is to talk over the different tang stamps that have some sort of meaning about the knifes construction. Some may be a symbol, others words that may be foreign to us. I'm sure…

Danger...Danger!

I recently had trouble with my PayPal account, on Ebay. It seems, some bad guy, got my password changed and started making purchases and cash with-drawls on my Ebay account.

I knew something was wrong when I tried to pay for an item that I had won the auction on and the system said "my password was incorrect. I tried several but I got the same answer. I decided I'd Email, Ebay and that's when I discovered that some bad person was buying stuff on my account. I also discovered…

An Indian Totem pole knife for a little Cajun girl.

This is a knife and handle project, for my late wife. A friend sent me the wonderful carved handle and Mr. Larry Pridgen, a great knife maker [ one of our members] put them together. What a wonderful job by all the people involved. My wife was a big supporter of our American natives, she had made several out fits [dresses] that she wore from time to time. She would have loved this knife.…
