Ya'll know that I am wanting to focus my knife collection. The switchblades I am not so worried about...yet. They are tough to find and there aren't any cheap ones out there unless you get lucky.
Pocket knives I have been using the shotgun approach and I need to change that.
So I have mostly been focusing on styles. And Barlow is my favorite. Not sure why.
Like Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn, the Barlow was my first knife and I loved it.
As an adult I find they…

Hi guys
Searhing around the internet one of the places I keep bumping into is Jay's Knives. Looks like they have some real nice items. I haven't made a purchase from them yet. I have looked at and even written down the name/number/description of a few but haven't actually bought anything.
Probably because you can only buy on the phone and it seem so strange to me in 2012 to have a web based company (or at least partly we based) but you are unable to actually buy anything…

I attended the March meeting of the WRCA in Dover Oh, yesterday.

They are a nice group, even if they are interested in older production knives. Me? I’m sort of a tactical folding tool kind of guy.
Mickey Yurco, with his 33 years of police experience, talked to us about knife laws in Ohio, specifically the Northeast Ohio area. …

I got a new knife book today. It's a title most of you probably already have but I am enjoying it and finding useful information in the Big Book Of Pocket Knives, Identification and Values by Ron Stuart.
You already know I collect switchblades. But recentl also started picking up some folders, which is how I wound up here...and I am so very glad that I did!!
But I wish I had this book long ago. This is the 4th Edition o it has been helping folks for a long…

Some new knife collectors start by purchasing knives that appeal to them, unlike ourselves we started as a hobby with friends, and then slowly worked at acquiring knowledge about how to build a collection. Later in the game becoming more cautious and wanting to develop some background.…

OK. Time for the answers.
I'm sorry I thought this would be easier for you. I didn't do a good enough job of clues I suppose
From top to bottom we have---
A) Schrade Walden 2 blades---1946 to 1973
B) Frost Cutlery, Flying Falcon with Falcon engraving 1 blade---1978 to Present
C) Schrade/CUT Co/Walden, NY 2 blades---1904 to 1946
Since Robert got one right he should get the Frost. So, if you want her Robert shoot me a message.
The other…

OK sorry I'm late. We'll go until noon or so with a few extra clues
Clue #A The middle knife is indeed Frost Cutlery
Clue #B The other two knives are from the same maker but different generations--blade markings differ slightly but the same maker
Clue #C (big drum roll...) Two knives are marked "Office Knife" on the obverse of the case. I would post pictures of thst side and make that the clue but it would show too much.
I have one more clue but it would be…

Three cuties all lined up...
Any guesses?
The top one is tough to open the secondary blade. It split my nail good so I left it alone for now.
Clue #1:
The middle knife only has one blade.
Clue #2:
At least two of the knives are from the same maker.
Clue #3
At least one knife has celluloid grips.
Clue #4:
At least one knife has markings on a grip.
The first person with three correct answers gets one of the knives…

A couple of pics of that fat little Norway pocket. Remember, it's a fat little knife, short and very wide. 1 cutting blade & a bottle opener. Nice Norwegian Viking Ship boat scene on one side and an open spot for engraving on the other side.
The only marking are "Stainless steel" on the knife blade.
This knife was descibed by the eBay seller as :
Haugrud Norway Pewter Norge Viking Ship Art Deco Lobster Folding Pocket Knife

So my bummed period is over and I did get a couple of things in the mail. Nothing great. A couple of old clay poker chips. One with an elephant carved on it and the other a guy in a speedboat on a lake. Probably Lake Tahoe because it is from Crystal Bay.
And then two knives:
1) Smith & Wesson Texas Hold em pretty cracked ice handles. About 3.5" closed Smith & Wesson engraved on the blade with what looks like a straight flush. SMITH &/WESSON on the tang. The…

Yes I am bummed tonight.
Missed out on a couple of knives via the dreaded eBay including...
one really nice looking old Russell Barlow.
I was daydreaming of sittin' out on the river whittling some with Huck Finn.
I was going back and forth in bids with a guy until the last hour when...no more bids. I knew he didn't give up. He was sitting in the weeds waiting.
But so was I. I was top bid for the last hour and I waited with a big bid in my entry box and…

I bought this and the seller ssaid it was an "IMCO" knife. I never heard of it but it wass inexpensive so I bought it. Yeh I know.
Got home went thru my limited books. Could not find anything like IMCO.
The knife is very dirty and blades are rusted to heck & back. Can barely open them. I'll have to throw some oil at it.
And then I couldn't read the engraving. I used a little bitty wood scraper (like chicks use on their fingernails. It works good doesn't do any…

As much as I try to educate myself about things before I post something extremely stupid online (or say it in person) I share this story with you.
Besides knives I find myself very interested in Civil War history. I had family who fought on both sides in that war and have photo, letters and even a diary.
Recently when I was looking for knives on eBay I saw an 1854 Half-Dime for sale that had been dug at a campsite in Virginia now on private land. It was inexpensive $12...so I…
