We all pass through significant events in life-
Rites of Passage, they are called, by virtue of simply being alive. Examples include, a first kiss, turning 16, graduating from high school, getting married, having a child, the death of a parent, as well as our own eventual death (obviously, that's the last one), these are some of the passageways we must pass through as we travel…

The iKC Community must have caught a virus or we've got a hacker....it seems all the redmen have been replaced with our dear friend J J's pic somehow...I'll check with NING and be back as soon as I get an update.

My blood is boiling. This whole thing about the restricting of "permitted knives" is really making me mad now.
I
recently posted over at CutleryNewsJournal about what will happen if the will of the people
is to restrict knives- I'm talking about the majority of Americans- to the point Congress doesn't fight this left-wing attack on our rights.
Well, now, the…

Been out in San Francisco the last couple of days and now I'm headed to Florida. While in SF I had the pleasure of meeting one of our newest iKC members- Mr.
Philip Di Cicco. He is the owner of a really cool knife shop down on Pier 39. I have pics but can't figure out how to load them right this minute. His store is situated out on Pier 39 along the harbor. I was eating dinner and saw his store-…

Thank goodness we have professional folks on the watch for threats to our everyday knife rights. There is a new proposed rule from the U S Custom Agency attempting to redefine many of our EDCs as illegal.
Please take a minute to listen to this important message from David Kowalski, the Communications Coordinator of the American Knife and Tool…

WOW! Sensation overload!! That sums up my first day at the Blade Show. Over the top!
It is everything I hoped it would be.
Making my rounds. Established contact for us with Ka-Bar, Spyderco, Strider and some others. Got more to do today.
The tactical makers are all here and that knife is dominating the show. Seems everyone, including the "traditional" makers are offering some form of it. Not all, but quite a few. Meet a custom maker this morning who is…

Friday morning I'm on my way to my first Blade Show over in Atlanta. Tonight I feel like a kid having to go to bed on the night before Christmas. Been to quite a few knife shows over the years, but never been to the mother of- before. I can't wait. I'm gonna savor every moment.
Y'all watch over the community while I'm gone, OK? Remember our Neighborhood Watch Program. Also, help make sure you welcome any new members who join too. I know you'll make them feel right at home and show…

iKC made the news! I'm talking getting mentioned in a traditional offline knife publication. Yes Sir (figure of speech, there Ladies), we sure did....having
Mark Zalesky, a friend and fellow iKC member as the editor, doesn't hurt either.
Mark was kind enough to plug our community in the current edition of
Knife World. I must say, I have been a subscriber for many years and…

OK, fellow iKC community members, we need to reach out to a knife guy we want here.
I posted the story in this edition of Cutlery News Journal, so I won't reprint it here, other than to say, I ran on a very well respected knife guy out in the blogosphere, who needs to be posting his blogs here, where the knife collectors are.
Check out the story and then click over…

Don't you just love all the different types of knives folks own? All you have to do is look around our community to see it is like Baskin Robbins Ice Cream flavors.
Each person collects what they like and I think you can tell a lot about the person by the knife he (or she) owns, just like someone's hands tell you a lot about that person.
I won't try to detail all the different personalities and preferences here in our community, but I do find it very interesting.…

Here's the message:
Good morning,
Wayne Koons came through his surgery with flying colors yesterday. The surgery lasted 4-1/2 hours and instead of a double by-pass, he had three by-passes completed. He spent the night in ICU and if all goes as planned he should be moved to a regular room today. He's at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN and will hopefully be headed home for a full recovery in a few days.
You can forward your get well cards to NKCA, c/o… Continue

Wow! What can I say? The last two days have been wild here at iKC.
If you just joined us- Welcome and I think if you take the time to connect with some new friends and knife discussions, you will love our community.
If you are an "oldtimer" member here (even though we've only been open for about three weeks), there is no doubt our heads are spinning.
When I started iKC I was all over it. I had a good feel for all that was going on and into…

Lynsie Johnson, one of our members, added a thought provoking topic for discussion- "
Do you feel that a knife is like a tattoo?" While the topic might be viewed a little "different" for a "knife…

A BLOGGING KNIFE COMMUNITY- HOW COOL IS THAT?!
A few years ago, when I started blogging at
The News at ElephantToenails.com, I looked far and wide to find other folks blogging on knife topics. Not! Then over the last two years, I was able to find one about every 6 months- what's that about 4 or 5 now.
Almost every knife blog I was able to find was strictly a knife review. No interesting commentary, no…

I must take a second to say, "Thank You" for becoming a part of the iKnifeCollector Community.
We're not quite two weeks old yet, and I am
very pleased how our community has been received and supported. I knew it was going to be different for most collectors- a lot more interactive and even more personal, than anything else in the online knife world. Because of that I didn't quite know how it was going to go over.
Your feedback is very encouraging. Two messages…

As with any new community, we have folks moving in and getting settled, while others are finishing the build-out. Others are painting walls and hanging pictures. Don't know if you have noticed, but everyday, our community changes- that's the way it's supposed to be too.
Our emphasis is on "quality, not quantity" meaning we want an active community, not just folks hanging their shingle and then not getting to know their neighbors. And yet,…

We're knife collectors, not geeks, so look around, click on things and check them out. Open your Settings on your My Page. Try to up load a picture and a video. Look at the Applications you can add on your My Page too. You will find dozens of mini-programs to add to it.
Don't worry about breaking something, or crashing the site. It won't happen.
We'll only learn by playing around. Try to change the background of your My Page to a picture.
Have fun. I'm still…

Many of you are currently members of a local, regional or national knife club. No better place to meet, share and do your business than iKnifeCollector Community.
iKC is not meant to replace your club memberships, instead it provides a community with unparalleled capabilities you simply will not find anywhere else on the web- unless you are willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars building out your own site- and the truth is, that's not necessary any longer.
Let…
