All the Knives on eBay

All the knives on eBay

Over in one of iKC’s discussion areas, Scott had this factoid about “All the knives on eBay” and his post made me begin to think about. It made me think a lot of how eBay has driven this business without much concern for the wishes or needs of buyers and sellers, or more importantly, the historical manor knife buying, selling and trading occurred prior to their existence.

Few of us can say we have not used eBay ourselves… It is the new 24/7… Continue

The Death of Vintage Knife Collecting

First of all let me state, the content of this blog is based simply on my observations over the past 30 years of collecting and dealing in vintage knives. Nothing written is based on statistical facts…just my observations and opinions.

Thirty years ago I started collecting knives. I collected most Case brand but I also collected Winchester, Remington, Cattaraugus, and a few others. I used to go to every gun and knife show around and even traveled out of state to attend NKCA and the… Continue

Two iKC Members in the news

We have two iKC members in the news- David Anthony and Mark Zalesky.

David recently interviewed Knife World's Editor, Mark Zalesky. Mark isn't taken to getting press, so he wouldn't allow the interview to run in Knife World, so guess what- Cutlery News Journal ran it. Mark is a behind the scenes kinda guy and deserves all… Continue

"LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL"...

What do I mean by the title of this blog. Well in (4) months, (14) days and a wake-up...I "STAND DOWN." Retirement. Paid in Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

More personal time to spend with my Family, train-(Martial Arts, Knife-fighting, etc...), travel-knife seminars, shows, Las Vegas, Italy, Japan, and open my own shop to sell knives, tactical gear, and maybe firearms. Being able to buy more custom knives, firearms, and maybe a Cadillac Escalade (lol!).

The windfall of liquid… Continue

What do knives have to do with Breast Cancer?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the knife industry in general has come out en masse to support the cause. We have a couple examples on our website of knives and other items where a portion of the proceeds will go to various related charities that support Breast Cancer awareness and research. Companies like Spyderco, Buck, Victorinox, Ka-Bar,…

Just added a pic of an old Robeson Dog Leg Jack-Input is appreciated

I just added pictures of an old vintage Robeson. I "guess" it is a Dog Leg Jack but not sure. I can barely make out 5 numbers on the rear tang which are either 62266 or 82266. The handles are flawless but the blades have been cleaned up. Light stamping still legible on front tang, Robeson Shuredge etc. etc.. Anyone know what the pattern number should be?

One of our favorite times of the year- Pumpkin Carving Time!

Knife users love to carve, don't we? Here's your change to show off your skill. When my kids were younger I used to carve funny/silly faces on our pumpkins. They usually weren't very good. But I know some folks take this art of pumpkin carving very seriously.

If you are carving a pumpkin this year, snap you a pic of it and load it up to share with us. Don't forget to show us the knife (or knives) you used for this delicate procedure.

The Rules of Knife Collecting

Sometime back over at Cutlery News Journal we concluded knife collecting qualifies as a sport. And, by definition, a sport is governed by a framework of understandings commonly called rules.

“Rules,” you say, “there aren't any rules associated with knife collecting.”

Oh, contraire, but it does. I will admit they weren’t easy to find, but find them I did, though I… Continue

HATERZ II: AN ORIGINAL YOUTUBE POEM...

Been dealing with more HATERS...I was inspired to write this poem and post it as a video.

These are my rifles

These are my guns

Both are for shooting

Which can be quite fun

If you don't like either

Why are you here!?!?

You haven't posted one video

But, are a JERK not a DEAR

If you don't like my channel, videos, or my voice

Go watch something else

You know you have that choice

I also post… Continue

New Blades, Collecting Steel and Collecting Friends

Friends-

One of the real joys that I've experienced on iKnifeCollector is the sharing of new knife acquisitions. Whether living vicariously through other people's collections...or simply sharing the fun of a new knife, I really enjoy it when one of you lets me in on your latest blade purchase. In fact, it is through that interaction that I've been introduced to some of the coolest knives in my collection. With that in mind, I try to reciprocate by sharing my "new" family members as I… Continue
