The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Picking up where I left off yesterday. Starting with a local that lives in the city where the show was held, Tiel.

Last Saturday I visited the one knifeshow my little country has every year. (It's ok, there's a couple more in Germany, Belgium and France every year as well and they're just around the corner so don't feel TOO bad for me)
Entering the room I found it to be very well visited. After browsing for a couple of hours I took out the camera and started taking pictures....then I put away the camera and took out my cellphone because apparantly that takes better pictures in the terrible…

We must take our youth of today and forge them into tomorrow's generation of knife collectors and makers. Gentle guidance to encourage and develop their growth in the love of knives. Teaching the history of cuttlery as well as its place in today's world and in the future. Reference books and catalogs for them to use instead of video games. TV shows promoting cuttlery. Hands on training in the art of blade crafting.
I started my grandson out by giving him a freebie knife when I…

For about 3 years now I have been drawing up & cutting out my own fixed blade knife designs. I have yet to complete even one of them. That is terrible, I know, but I am easily distracted by a Paying job and family. This Blog will help me to keep track of the projects. Please offer up ideas and advice freely, I welcome all of it.
I will list these projects as I started them:
1/2011
.125 x 1.5" 1095 steel knives. I started with a simple modified Tanto design with 3"…

while looking thru my collection..i found to my horror rust spots on one of the 1075 high carbon blade and fungus growth, even on smooth mirror polish blades or on the G10 handles or even on the packaging boxes.... these fungus are similar to the lens fungus found in lens and camera, whitish color, with its tentacles spreading out clawling and anchoring itself into any microscopic crevices of the blades or handles.
i have wiped all with Sentry Solution Tuf-Cloth and now putting into…

One day, a small opening appeared in a cocoon: a man sat and watched for the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then, it seems to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it coud not go any further. So the man decided to help the butterfly: he took a pair of scissors and opened the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a withered body, it was tiny and shriveled wings.
The man…

I give you this one thought to keep -
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow,
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush of
quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still - in each…

Our Community is absolutely free to our members and I intend that it will always be that way. I refuse to implement pages you have to pay to enter or any of the other gimmicks.. I know you have all noticed that we now have some ads to pay the basic needs of the community, Go Daddy and Ning. Getting our name out there brings its own set of costs. Recently I have been asked on several occasions recently if there is a way for the members that wish provide help.
Then an Angel…

I had never heard of this man and find it amazing that with as many knives as he sold there are only a few around. That must mean they were used, not collected. If he could only see them now!

about Jack Knife Ben himself, written by a journalist named Neil M. Clark.
Jack Knife Ben was really named Benjamin W.…
