I need to tap the expertise that exist here on IKC

I am a real newbie when it comes to these pocket knives even though I have always carried a pocket knife since I was a kid.  The Knife Acquisition Bug (KAD) didn't bite me until a year or so ago but left me with latent desires to own every knife I see and blooms into must purchase crisis situations several times a year.  I own Case, GEC, Canal Street, Queen and Schatt & Morgan.  I was doing fine with my KAD until I went to my first knife show last weekend.  I fear that I may have picked…

Ivory Ban Update - More We Find Out - Worse It Gets!

March 10, 2014: Knife Rights was in Washington D.C. last week working on the Ivory Ban issue we first wrote about two weeks ago. We met with Members of Congress, including Rep. Matt Salmon, the only Congressman to question this Administration's Ivory Ban at the original sham hearing (…

My first knife show-Dalton, Georgia

Well at the ripe old age of 63 I attended my first knife show today down in Dalton, Georgia.  I had no idea what to expect other than I would probably see several things that I wanted and I would have a chance to meet some of the IKC members and a few of the on line retailers that I have done business with.  Some observations and impressions:

1.  This will not be my last show.

2.  The number of knives as viewed by these old eyes was staggering.  I spent the first hour just…

Featured Members

Who are they and how did they become Featured Members?

I don't fully know myself. I know that there's only been 23 Featured Members since the beginning of IKC. I know it's an honor to be featured by this great club that we all enjoy so much. I thought we might discuss this amongst us and see what we come up with before Steve and Miss Jan explain it to us.

Government Overreaching With Pernicious Ivory Ban

Is Your Ivory Handled Knife Now Worthless?

More Elephant Poaching, Not Less

On February 11, 2014, the White House and Department of Interior (DOI) declared by executive fiat that virtually all elephant ivory in  the U.S., including ivory handled knives, could no longer be sold, claiming that by doing so they were saving…

This Bump Will Not Slow You Down

Today’s review will focus on the Kershaw Spec Bump 1596 assisted opening pocket knife.  I would classify this knife as a medium to large assisted opening tactical knife. It was designed by Ken Onion and just by looking at it, one can tell it is one of his designs.  "I wanted to make the Bump as multi-tasked as possible," says Onion. "The blade design is unique, but at the same time, it's very practical and fluent at a large number of jobs."   Before beginning, I…

iKC and the NKCA bringing goodwill to a local Charity

Yesterday iKC and the NKCA helped a local home for challenged folks.  The Angelus is an amazing community and Lisa and I were proud to be invited to join in the excitement of yesterdays first Pasco Musical festival.  While Lisa was in Arkansas at a knifemakers show talking up the NKCA and us, we were the concert talking up the same and the benefits of having a community like The Angelus in Tampa Bay!

It was amazing…

Vintage Brands

Has anyone ever wondered which knife brand, that has gone out of business in recent knife history, has risen in value and collectability the most. Knife companies like Camillus, Schrade and others. Have ya'll seen a rise in price and interest in these and if so, then which ones. I know that the vintage Winchesters have really gone up in price. I am curious to hear what ya'lls opinion is on this subject. Thanks.
