I am back.... Long story about my former job and new job....

I'm back....    I was terminated by FedEx in last April. My boss believe I broke FedEx's policy. Not true..There is NO broke policy's. Nothing with the policy. Because My reason for being late was construction on Highway 287 in whole month. I would allow 1 hour to get to work because of the construction. I did doing a right thing, I did use my pager to send text message to my ex-boss about late. My boss does not know how to deal with a deaf person.  All he would do would yell at me.  Instead…

Razor sharpening .

A shortish blog on sharpening straight razors. It will be short because I know little enough , though I have learned enough to be able to get the job done . Maybe I can return to this in future when I have more information but for the present it will be brief .

1 . If you want to learn to shave using a straight razor the most effective way is to buy a new razor from a dealer who is known for sharpening their razors before sending them out . Buy a strop at the same time , not a…

A collection of straight razors , I guess !

I feel that I have to admit that I am becoming a collector , this may sound strange as I am writing this on i Knife Collector and this is ...well the place for collectors .

I have never really collected anything before , in the past I have always had a pocket knife and sometimes two or maybe three but never anymore than that.  I have had knives since I was eight or nine , something like that anyway and I can hardly remember a time when I didn't look in shop windows at knives . When I…

25th. Annual Big Sur Jade Festival

When I'm not playing with sharp objects or madly dashing across the country to rescue a relative, I help operate a small non profit called the South Coast Community Land Trust based in Big Sur, CA. I'm a Board Director and Secretary of the SCCLT, and Entertainment/Volunteer Director of our one big fund raising event each year, the Big Sur Jade Festival. We raise money for several community organizations, but our main focus is helping the students of the local K-12 public…

Minion #15

Shortly after #14 it is time for #15. Actually, I was working on these two brothers at the same time.

At first #15 was planneed to be with one whole piece of acacia for handle, but I decided it was too poor. So I cut the piece in two, removed the metal guard, put two pieces of twisted oak, cut corian guard and heel and added stainless steel spacers. This was assembled and disassembled about 3413873165 times, utill it fitted (almost) as I wanted it to fit.…

Minion #14

The Canadian belt knife is gone to his new owner and it was time to start making the new knife. Since I'm obsessed with the minions - of cource the next knife is a tiny one.

The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to about 60HRc. Sapele and black corian handle, impregneted with linseed oil and polished with carnauba wax. The sheath is calf blank, oiled with Vaseline to stay soft and to prevent absorbing moisture.

OAL - 160mm, blade only - 70/27/3,7mm.…

Hunting knife II version #8

D3 steel, hardened up to about 61 HRc, corian with acacia and walnut handle.

The knife is order from a pleased customer and is a gift for his friend. This is why i've put some more time and effort in making it. This is it's second handle - the first one was just as ordered - white corian, alder and Rhodopean spurce. But the alder's flader didn't came uot very good, and some internal voids showed out in the spurce. I could have the voids filled and go on with the poor…

The fatal #13 of the minions' tribe!

The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to about 60 HRc, corian and acacia handle with brass spacers. The mounting is with hidden nut and the heel is held with brass rivets.

This one was also assembled and disassembled about 654296641 until finally everything was fitted together and I was pleased with it.…

Custom Knives by Alan Davis

Thought I would start a blog here to showcase the work of my favorite knifemaker.   I stumbled across Alan Davis, a knifemaker from Boerne, Texas, in late 2012.  I was blown away by his knife designs.  Even more astounding was the fact that they were virtually all one of a kind creations.  Alan didn't just make one or two patterns and then just outfit them with different materials.  Each and every one was pretty much different.  While he did have a few designs that people seemed to like and…

Tanto sharing for Bryan W

This is a Tanto that was given to me by the widow of my best friend that died a few years ago.  He loved the Japanese swords, and unfortunately I know little of its history.  I did have an expert look at it, who determined it was made from a cut down (or broken) WWII Japanese sword.  The polishing is not correct, the shape of the blade tip is a bit off, but the parts are all authentic and someone put a lot of time into this piece.  The collar was noted as being very…
