Traditional vs Tactical

Do you have a favorite, fixed blade or folder? Tell us the one you like the most. I'll start it off by saying I'm a traditional knife fan, guess I'm old fashion.

Hot enough yet?

Well, I don't know how everyone else is faring from the summer heat but my brains are about baked and it's only the first week in July! Here in North Texas we get some pretty good heat during the summers. When I was younger I could handle it with no problems. Well so far June ended up the 4th hottest average temperature ever in my part of the country. Now after 5 days of July we are in a over 100 streak every day.

The forecast is not any help either. The 7 day forecasts most…

Tell us your best 4th of July story

A friend was raised in a small town and recently shared with me a story about the 4th of July celebration in a  small american town.  I on the other hand was a military brat and spent many of my younger 4th's on

foreign soil.  So while his make me smile with the Norman Rockwell image's he invokes, mine bring a different feeling.  The 4th of July is an American tradition.  A time where we celebrate our independance as a…

1911 Holster Completed

Check out my picture of this holster I have been talking about. When I presented it to the Officer (Which because of nature of his work had to remain anonymous), said. "James, I knew this holster was going to be great, but this is superior to all my expectations"! I know the Texas Rangers will love this when they see it. Sorry for the picture quality, since the officer was standing beside me with his face turned towards the camera and his arms crossed over my shoulder, I wasn't able to be the… Continue

French Knives : Fontenille-Pataud

In my opinion, Fontenille-Pataud makes the most beautiful European (not only French) production knives.

I'm fond of their skills.

They have Laguioles...…

IS A KNIFE ALSO A TOOL

I have been talking to others to see what their opinion was on this.. some says a knife is just that a knife. i have a different take on this .do you? i have seen and also used my knife for many other things besides cutting.have you?i have used my knife for many things.i have used them for a pry tool and wire strippers, bottle opener, hammer and i know im forgetting a few things .so i would think this would put a knife in the tool category.for many years a knife was used to help build a cabin in… Continue

Return after a long time

I just came back to this page after a long time.  It is really nice and I would like to come very often.  I signed in and tried to join a chat, but could not for the life of me see where to "send" a message.

US ARMED FORCES

I now have the opp0rtunity and potential to begin making products for our Troops. My first order is from an established and highly decorated Officer. I have also revised the Colt 1911 Pistol Holster to a more effecient model. The Officer I am working for has been able to draw and shoot, taking out the intended target, in 7/10 th's of a second. WOW !!! Don't mess with this guy, especially when he is packing his 1911 in my new holster design. Sorry, no pictures are available as this…

ZDP-189 Knife Steel

ZDP-189......  This is a new steel to me, I was wondering if anyone is familar with this steel or maybe even owns a knife made with it. I see it is tempered in the mid 60's RC. I think it was developed in Japan but not sure.

ANY CAMERA SUGGESTIONS?

I'm trying to get some suggestions on what kind of camera is req'd. to take good, clear close up shots of knives for this website & also for taking shots suitable for advertising on eBay. They recommend a 1000 pixxel camera which seems like an awful lot to me?

Any suggestions for a suitable & hopefully not too expensive camera?

Thanks, Kent Gable

I want to be sure everyone gets a chance to bid on this wonderful knife going for a great cause

Wounded Warrior Auction ~ Bid here 538311 Kauri Wood RARE!!

I wanted to get this Wounded Warrior Project auction in before Memorial Day.   This is a rare Great Eastern knife and a real find for anyone interested in the 53 Stockman.  To the best of my knowledge, only 4 of the Northfield 538311's were made with the Ancient Kauri Wood.  This is one of them.  Very good looking and extremely hard to find!…

It is so good to have friends who got your back!

Wow! That's about how I sum it up. What am I talking about? Well, the last two weeks.

Actually it is a blur now as I try to recount what's gone on. The thing that stands out in my mind are the storms. The horrible storms we've had pass through our parts down here in Alabama. I can't say life is returning to normal because so many people have lost their life, or had it totally tragically displaced. If you haven't seen this monster storm-check this…
